Question Kelley Blue Book

I am wondering what my 2001 L is worth if I were to sell it. It is completely stock, with 8,000 miles. Has been stored for the last 3 months due to the lovely Michigan weather. Kelly Blue Book lists a 2000 L with 8,000 miles, excellent condition, worth $28,115. I am thinking this is too high for used, just because I got it for $28,000 New, with A-plan! Any opions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Cool, another Detroit area L owner.

Go to edmunds.com and look up the prices there. You'll get a much better idea of what your truck's worth. You're right about this area for resale. Since just about anyone can get aplan, resale blows unless you trade it in at the dealer and even then it's not the best. Take it down to someplace like Texas or out to Cali and you can get probably $30k for it, if not more.

Thanks for the edmunds info! Now I am really disappointed. I thought Kelly blue book was too high, and now I think edmunds is too low!

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't one of the A-plan rules that you cannot sell it for more than you bought it for--i.e. to discourage people from buying A-plan and then selling it market value to someone, and pocketing the change? Maybe there is only a one year time limit to this though.

Good point, I have heard of that rumor before, but who is to stop me from selling my truck? Ford Credit? I don't think they know of my A-plan purchase, I just financed through them a amount. I am going to research this though. Thanks for the point, I forgot about it. I may be SOL?????

eoreilly, you are right. I believe it's 6 months that the vehicle has to be titled in the purchasers name before it can be sold.

I've been looking for (and just bought) a 5500 mile '01 for $26,200. I looked for about a month and a half and found that a bone stock should go for around this price. Some were a bit more, some a bit less. I'd say an average of $26-$27k is what i've seen on Ebay. I'm in Arizona and they go for more here, closer to $30k because buying used you pay no tax which saves money even further.
