With that kind of speed stock, im sure it will make alot of L owner's think either sell the L, or make room next to it in the garage. 110mph in the 1/4

I gotta tell you all, I love the L to death, I have owned a 93' L & now a 01' L, but throw in a 6 speed manual, convertable, for just 3-4k more than the L, and I am sold. Go Ford!

I'm thinking about selling the lightning but not for that. I would almost bet money that the new lightning will have well over 400hp. I was reading about the new gt 40 in Car & Driver and noticed they were using a 5.4 w/ DOHC heads and a blower. Its making 500 hp and tq. I would think that since they have already developed this engine that they would use it in something. Since dodge is supposedly coming out w/ their 500 hp truck then it only seems right that ford would put this engine in the lightning. I just hope whatever they do, that they put a 6 speed in the new truck. I know it wouldn't be as fast on the 1/4 but I sure do miss driving a stick.

My L has been gone for about 4 months now, thats part of the reason I sold it. I decided that Id sell it will I could get a good price for it and save my $ in hopes that they come out with that beast. I had a 98 Saleen replica and miss that car to death.

a lot of people were ******* it on the corral about only 390 hp.

the other thing a lot of people don't notice is the compression is down to 8.5:1 from 9.85:1.

i was running 10 to 10.5 to 1 on my cobra throwing 18psi at it. with only 8.5 to 1, that thing will take some boost, especially with the shorter rod , plus being forged!

It is certainly great living in a time where fuel is cheap and horsepower lives. Although it is getting tough to want to keep something for a long time. Back in the early 70's you had to buy the latest model, because the next year was a de-tune and major horsepower loss. Each year was worse than the next, so if we all had the internet then, we present Lightning owners would be the cool ones, the ones with the most horsepower. The newbies would be stuck with inferior models. But we are indeed, living in the greatest time for hotrods and muscle cars!!! I'm just trying to figure out how to afford a new cobra without selling what I have. And that insurance, I don't even want to think about the insurance of a 400hp Mustang Cobra!
