Alarm & Remote Start of a L?

For the trucks with remote start. Do you know if any special modules are needed? Is it like the GM setup and needs a module to learn the key code to keep from going into Theft Mode? Thanks for any info!!!

the remote start module for the alarm i looked at had a small box to put a blank key in (programmed, but uncut), and a antenna loop that goes to the sensor that detects the chip in the key when it is in the ignition.

i dont know what else is out there..

hope this helps.

I have a clifford alarm that i got from good guys, and they ordered some part that grabs the code of the key....this way I didnt have to buy another key just for the remote start...works great!

LOCKDOWN

Jason, do you got to CSM? Saw a silver L identical to yours, but has a big "Lockdown racing" sticker on the windshield.

I have the viper alarm remote start 550esp i think.

they need 2 keys to program it, but they do not need to keep the extra key in a box.

i had my wife's GTP done the same day and it did need an extra key.

Go to circuit city, let them do it lol. well worth it.

I have the viper with remote start and there was a special module needed, it was only like $20 extra but oh well. Also threw in the extra $$ for the back up battery as well.

STuff you need

Ok,

You need a DEI (brand) 555f, which is a transponder, retails for about 25$. You will need 2 extra relays, street price of 10-12$ each, this is assuming you are using the 550esp.

You need two keys to program the new transponder in.

Here is all the info you should need

Notes:
NOTE: Some models of this vehicle are equipted with PATS (Passive Anti Theft System). Use DEI module 555F to over-ride during remote start.
*1 Power this wire if equiped with rear anti-lock brakes.
*2 Negative pulse, type 'B', on keyless entry models. Five wire, type 'C', on non-keyless models, mastered from the driver switch.
*3 May also be found at trailer connector next to diagnostic connector under dash.
*4 If equiped with autolamps.
*5 The black/yellow catches the drivers door and the black/pink catches the passengers door. Use both wires and diode isolate each. See direct fax document # 1076 for wiring information. The wires are found in there respective door harnesses. Both wires may also be found at the GEM module located above the fuse box. On models without a dome light delay use orange/lt. green (-) at the light switch.
*6 Arms when locked with the door open. To simulate, send a negative trigger to the lt. blue/white wire at the RAP module, located behind the light switch, while locking.
*7 Tach wire : on the 4.2L it is a dk.blue/lt.green at the coil pack on top of the motor.
Tach wire : on the 4.6L it is a pink/white in a 3 pin plug at the front of the motor below the air intake and next to the fan.
Tach wire : on the 5.4L it is a lt.green/white at the coil on the passenger side of the motor between the fuel injectors.

I bought the Stinger unit and am waiting on a immobiliser bypass module (pn. 20402) to get the remote start working on it.
