Post Rumor of "Other" triton 5.4 supercharged F-150's

Everyone,

In the new truckin' mag, page 28...And I quote:

"Ford will, its rumored, expand availability of the 340hp version of the supercharged Triton 5.4L V-8 beyond the Harley Davidson F-150 to any F-150 that wants it by 2004."

So much for limited......

I guess the good side is more quantity means more parts.....

Knowing my luck, they will probably put Manley rods in them...

enjoy...

I think its crap. This is kind of like a concept car. (Ring ring, SRT/10) Aint gonna happen. A lot of things can change in 2 years.

I agree that it kind of takes the "luster" off owning a Lightning. BUT, I also know that Ford will not let the Lightning fall in the mix. Whatever a non-Lightning gets, the Lightning will have more. Case in point, the SC Harley truck. It gets less boost because Ford does not want it competing with the Lightning. That's not going to stop any Harley owners from adding boost, but at least Ford has the right idea.

Almost sounds like what happened back in the 80's when everyone, especially Chrsyler, put a turbo on just about anything.

This is such B.S. Ford is not going to put a S/C or make it an option for the regular F-150. Cost! Transfer cases, trany warrenty fuel economy?? That is one I can put to rest! By the way! SVT did the package on the Harley also....

Ford needs the sales on higher-margin vehicles...

I see a Z06 with my name on it...

Back in the late 60's and early 70's you could get a vette motor in a Z-28 camaro. That did not hurt the sales or deminish the luster of owning a corvette. It just made the Chevy muscle cars that much more poular. Its good for the breed, IMHO.Besides your still talking 45 h.p. less with the "other" S/C engines. So lets chill and appreciate that Ford has this flexibility to pass this enjoyment to other truck enthusiests.I hope it happens.

Great money maker for Ford!!! Put the Lightning engine in all their truck lines, that way they KNOW the majority are gonna chip it or install a pulley, so then they can void ALL the warranty's!!! It'll save 'em bookoo's on warranty claims!
