SVT Focus sighted

I forgot to post this last night. Yesterday, I drove down to Torrance to talk with Danny Swanson. On the drive there, a silver Focus that looked SHARP pulled out next to me on Sepulveda Blvd and followed me up to the 405 onramp. As he pulled next to me and slightly ahead, I noticed the SVT badge and Michigan plate with only 4 numbers (low number). So much for that.

From what I heard from talking with a Ford saleman I deal with often (two minutes later by phone), Ford "delayed/halted" the production run for the SVT Focus and this was probably a proto type that Ford is driving around to selected dealerships.

It's a sharp looking car.

So how long you gonna be in town, and where are you staying? Any plans for a convocation of Ls?

Job 1 is March 4th or so for the SVT Focus. My wife has one on order; it was delayed but now it is going ahead. JR is using the M62, so maybe I can convince her to add the lil' blower. Also, rumor is, it can really handle.

I'm in Beverly Hills staying in my usual suite for my last week - the hotel staff is bummed to see me go. I will be heading north on Thursday. Originally, I wasn't supposed to leave until Friday, but the next job can't wait an extra 8 hours.

How about dinner Thursday evening? As long as I'm in Hayward by Friday morning, I'm OK.

Thumbs up

Sounds good to me, Jorge. Should I e-mail "Lurker" to see if he wants to get involved? Same place (fine with me, I sure like their Elephant Rampage) or someplace different? Sure have a lot of stuff I want to discuss with you- rods and Solo2 to mention a couple. Maybe Jay Lincoln wants to get involved? I could drive to the Valley if Jay wants to drive up from La Habra. Marcus might want to meet us and discuss pulleys and blown motors? We need a plan.

Yes! Why don't we try a different place, though? I'm up for anything between here and Santa Barbara. I just talked with Jay and he was hoping to meet maybe someplace that was more central between Orange County and Santa Barbara, maybe the west LA area?

I would certainly be willing to drive to W.L.A. or Santa Monica. In fact, this might work out even better for me, since I could invite my gear head buddy from Manhattan Beach (who used to work for Bondurant, and race his Sunbeam Tigers). I have never been to Hooters, but there is one in Santa Monica we could check out, but something in the South Bay area would work, too.

I never thought the Contour was a great looking car, but I like the SVT Focus.

vrooooooom

The dealership I bought my L from (Towne Ford, Redwood City, Ca.) had one the day I picked mine up sitting in the show room, my friend and I were pretend gran-touring it while they filed/completed my paper work. I don't know if it was for sale or show, but it wasn't there for more than a week or two.

Hooters work for me. Oh Yeah, the one in Santa Monica. Get me an address and a time, and I'll be there.

Calling Marcus. Dinner at Hooters! Care to join us.
Where's Dale01? Maybe he would care to join us.
Mike B, Jim R, anyone else?

My truck is getting all pretty tomorrow.

How does 7 p.m. agree with the rest of you? I hope they make a decent Mai Tai there.

The staff at the Hyatt Newporter are begging me to come into town but unfortunately, I can't make it.
