?'s Cobra R water pump

Sorry, but the search function isn't working. Can anyone tell me what the benefits of the Cobra R water pump is? Does is flow better? Any pics? I was wondering if it would be beneficial in a regular 5.4L F150. Thanks.

better water flow, lighter, but you have to use a e-fan, can't use the stock one

oh and the most important i forgot is up to 5hp gain

doh one more thing, with the e-fan you gain up to 18hp and 2 more gallons of gas per mile

so a totally max hp gained is 23hp

I dont recall anyone ever posting dyno runs with the water pump and or E fan as separate mods and reporting any HP gains...

It makes sense that replacing the fan would help since the stocker draws power when the clutch is fully engaged But that is based on ambient temp AND RPM - It free wheels at WOT ( I think )
Plus the amperage that the E Fan draws is NOT free. The Alternator uses more HP to make more Juice so it will be a real tough mod to do a honest HP delta comparison on..

Um, how does the alternator use more HP?

23hp? WOW! that is huge! Who did the testing? The 2 mpg extra will pay for the fan and water pump in just a few thousand miles.
That is a 15% gain in mpg. If I did my math correctly if you pay $1.50/gallon of gas and currently get 13 mpg it would take about 30,000 miles to pay for the electric fan and water pump. Plus you get the extra 23 hp for free!

If the alternator is making power it is harder to turn and putting load on the engine... If it is NOT making power it is freewheeling...

With the draw of the elec fan it is making power all the time....

Based on this, you are saying sound systems with large amplifiers are reducing HP too?

I always thought alternators made the same power, based on RPM and the regulator controlled how much of it was sent out, based on the current needs of the system.

This is the first I've heard of HP loss.

You may be right but.... where does the other power go ? The unneeded power ? It doesnt disappear...

Yes high power stereos cost HP in 2 ways weight and elec draw... But the elec draw ONLY when the stereo is cranked of course

BTW, in most cases, the fan does not run all the time. It doesn't kick on until the temperature sending unit has detected a particular coolant temperature. In my case, on @ 185 degrees, off @ 170 degrees.

23 HP? I have a hard time believing that but I hope it is true since I have a pump and fan kit sitting in the Garage.

I'm thinking realistically I could see 5-6 rwhp. Seems like I saw one post where they said the dyno showed 3.
