Dealer only for the programing. Not sure if the truck has to run or not.

I would think that you could just purchase/order one from your FORD parts department.

Ok.... You want ford to repalce a $5000 engine, but you dont want to ante up for a new computer? If you can get it from ford, I would do it. Get it from a different dealer, or have a friend pick it up. Its not that complicated.

Good luck
Jeff

I am so sick of hearing about a way to scam Ford on your warrenty because of YOUR stupidity. Why don't you just quit your whining and pay for YOUR mistake! If you can't afford it, then let it sit until you can. I apologize to everyone who I might offend with this post, but not to J15BIG. I am sure your a great guy, but put yourself in Ford's shoes. They didn't mod your truck,YOU did! They did'nt tell you to drive it when it was making funny noises, but YOU did anyway knowing you had an appointment to take it in to the dealer to be looked at. You made all the mistakes but want someone else to pay for them. I hope Ford has read all your posts and knows who you are.

I'm starting to think the same way FAST... J, some people here have given you some GREAT advice...they have wished you luck, yet, from what I'm seeing you are still farting around like the little kid that you are..... You screwed up, glad you admit to it, and hopefully nothing like this will happen again...but buying a new computer isn't the way. Take the damn mods off... have the OWNER (i.e. your mom) drive/tow the damn thing into the dealer....What are they going to do, say that she was racing it??? You go in there, and they will immediately KNOW what happened, new computer or not....Heck, if they ask about the computer, tell them it was on a dyno(STOCK) and the tuner plugged his computer in to read some things..

You already have something that NO ONE else had when they went in to have their engines replaced, you called and had an appointment for that loud knock.... think McFly
1+1=2 ..... Loud Knock+Owner already had a previuos complaint=weighs in your favor for a new engine.

Now, instead of having your buddy's look at it, and guess what's wrong, or even TRY taking it apart (b/c then you'll be screwed when the Techs notice that it's been apart before), take it to the place who's probably going to break down and pay for it, your FORD dealer!

J said that the truck was never right from the beginning. The motor sounds like it was going down hill before the rod/rods broke. Why should he be responsible for an engine that never ran great?
It is almost automatic that the Ford rep will void the engine warranty by just looking at the pcm leads. The Ford rep won't have any proof that a chip was used but the warranty will be voided none the less. Why aren't you guys wasting your energy yelling at Ford for breaking the law(Magnusson-Moss Act)?

Im not goin to get into to this and try and defend myself...say whatever you want about me. For those of you that help me and answer the question i ask instead of goin off into the topic of blowing my engine, and me being stupid, and whining, or whatever...thanks....for those that do...are you having fun? I hope you get some sort of satisfication of dissing a 15 year old kid who is learning still and doesnt have as much experience as you cuz it sure isnt helpin/affecting/phasing me!

Doug, if you could just close this thred now before it gets outta hand i think that would be best.

easter: You're right, he shouldn't be responsible for a bad motor. But he should have been smart enough to get it looked at before he started modding it or someone of some maturity should have b
een smart enough to get it done for him.

jbig15: My 15 yr. old son was the one that turned me on to the topic of your woes.He couldn't believe anyone was dumb enough to beat on a motor that was making funny noises and had an appointment at the dealer to get it looked at.
