Another rod question

I am about to order a set of rods for the L. I talked to some guys about rods today, They told me to stay away from the Manley rods. They say they are cheaper then others in price for a reason. They said they are made overseas and not up to par with Eagle rods... Does anybody know if Eagle makes rods for the 5.4??? This is mostly new to us getting rods for the L's. Anybody have bad or good luck with Manley in there race cars?
Any info would be great.
Thanks Jeff

A local performance shop told me the opposite! They said the Eagles were made overseas?? I have heard too many good things about the Manley rods to believe differently.

I have used both Eagle and Manley rods for years. The Eagle H beams and Manely H beams, are pretty much the same exact rod. Yes, the Eagles ARE made overseas, but they are great quality. I have build 500+ CI big block Ford strokers with Eagle rods. Eagle's have proven themselves to be a great part. In my opinion, both the Eagles and Manleys are a good choice. The Manley are cheap because they didn't think they would sell. Expect them to go back up to normal price soon with everyone buying them.

H Beam Rods

What is the difference between the H Beam Manly rods and the other Manly rods?? Why would the H Beam's be better for Supercharged applications?? I though the other (what ever they are called) rods were stronger. Fill me in. Thanks !!

The other beam style is called an "I" beam. I think that a good quality "H" beam might ultimately be stronger than the "I" beam but the trade off is that it carries more weight.

The really premium rods are usually "I" beams made from the best steel, that way they can get a good balance between weight and strength.
