Ex Lightning-needs advise on '02 Harley S/c

Hi Guys;

Just got the word the '02 Harley S/c which will replace my '00 L is to be bulit soon. The L was the best truck I ever owned, hope the new one is as good.

I am familiar with the usual mods for the L-and of course I will be keeping the new HD strictly STOCK . But theoretically speaking....

Will "someone" be able to use a chip with the same L-type programs or will a new one have to be developed? (Same basic engine right? Just lower pulley and computer program changes)

Ditto the air filter

Will the L's Bilstein's fit on the HD? Seems the '01 HD version had SVT stamped suspension pieces and the '02 HD is "lowered 1"

Can I add a sway bar to the rear? It appears aftermarket guys don't have an application for Fords with heavy duty limited slip rears.
Does the '01 or '02 L have a rear sway bar and do you think it will fit?

Thanks for your suggestions. The L is still king. I just needed more room to carry the 'team'.

Regards,

Franko

Just about any Lightning mod will work with the Harley Super charged truck. Are you sure the truck doesn't have a rear sway bar? If it doesn't maybee the Lightning sway bar can be added, if not Hotchkis has sway bar kits that should fit. I also think the Lightning Billstiens will fit too.

Where in Ma are you I am in Waltham, I would love to check out the new truck when you get it.

I know Jim at JDM added a Lightning supercharger to a 2001 Harley, so what your asking should be easy.

Good luck
Don

Franko,
The Engines are the same between the Lightning and the Harley. Here are the differences you need to know.

The air inlet hole in the fender is not enlarged like it is on the 2001-02 Lightnings. The Supercharger Pulley is larger and the exhaust is more restrictive. That is where the 40hp loss comes from. There was a S/C, H/D at the Auto show here in Detroit. It had full Lightning suspension. It will be sold that way!

In short. You can add the same "ENGINE" after market mods to the H/D that are sold for the Lightning. The tuners may make a small adjustment due to the lower boost. Not to mention i like the new metalic color offered for the Harley. I wish they had that color as an option for the L's. I hope it turns out to be a good truck for you. What color did you order? Black or the metalic?

Thor.

And Iam sure any of "our tuners" could take care of the pulley issue

I'm curious to know what tranny it has, if you don't mind, when you get it will you look at the ID tag and let me know. I haven't seen what it gets, The Lightning gets a 5X, but the HD may get another model.

Thanks,

G

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the replies.

I promise to give a full comparison when it arrives begining of March including the tranny code.

I went for the metalic grey- already have two black cars didn't want people to think I was morbid or something .

I've been talking to a guy on the Harley site who works in the KC manufacturing plant and he said there was no sway bar on the Job1 test trucks. We'll see.

Don; I work in South Boston and live in Stoneham. We'll have to hookup when it arrives.

Regards,
Franko
