stangabishi- Oh man you are WAY OFF!!! first of all the Cobra R motor and the Lightning are nothing alike. The lightning has a supercharged SOHC Iron Pushrod engine making 385 hp. 455tq. And you CANNOT get it with a 5 speed. They come with 4 speed autos.
The Cobra R is an aluminum 5.4 DOHC motor Naturally Aspirated. Making 385 claimed hp. However, they have been proven to be making MORE than that. Some of the Cobra R's are dynoing 375 at the wheels.
As for this Eclipse beating the Lightning "DREAM ON" It will never happen. They make WAY more power than your Eclipse. Muscle Mustangs and Fast Ford Magazine is doing a project Lighting. When the truck was totally stock they ran an 13.12. Your Eclipse stock would run somewhere around 15-16. (correct me if I'm wrong)
As for your car being a 12 second car, again you are wrong. A 12 second car need to be making at least 325-400 hp. at the wheels. Again, with your mods you won't be making that.
You also said your car is AWD well another disadvantage because of drivetrain loss. AWD cars lose more power in the drivetrain. You might be able to launch a bit better than rwd but the end results would just hurt you. RWD cars (or trucks in this case) are better for straight line acceleration because of weight transfer during hard acceleration.

Well... remember that you are reading a dsm forum. They talk about beating american cars, just like you talk about beating "rice". It goes both ways. As a car lover, you should understand their passion. I myself drive a 2000 Z28. (((I'm thinking about buying an L, is why I'm here. 6'7, and don't fit well into an f-bod- heh ))) Where I come from, we eat mustangs. Mustang owners all say they eat f-bods. It's just pride in what we have. I can see a Roush-enhanced Stang, or a Supra... while sitting in my Z, and still appreciate what it is.

The coments, well... what do you expect from someone who doesn't drive one, or care to research? I mean, there are some ridiculous comments made here about imports. They're probably reading your posts, and laughing at what you say about their cars.
