2001 Lightning Motors

I was thinking of dropping a lightning motor in the my mustang. I know alittle bit about the lightning motor's and such. but what are the draw backs on the motors? would a 2.5" cobra r hood shut with the motor in place? or would I have to get a custom k-member and then would it shut???

Thanks for any tips

I really don't think the R hood would work out. That is a damn tall motor. What are your plans for tranny? Someone here knows of a bolt motor in a stang. I think it didn't meet expectations.

Man that is a sweet *** looking stang. I'm with bad bolt though, I dont think that a 2 1/2" hood would clear. However I do think that the car would haul ***. Why wouldn't it? Without much money you can get 400 rwhp and close to 500ftlb. of torque throughout the entire rpm range on something that weighs over 1,000lbs. lighter than our lightnings. I don't know how it would do on a road course though since the engine is so heavy. You might be better off putting in a supercharged cobra motor.

Hey I'm glad you guys have seen my car (the orange Mustang ) how do you all like it? As far as the fit goes, which I know you are all wondering about, it is not that bad. The main problem is hood clearence side to side is tight but it is not bad. The car is in the shop right now getting the exhaust made so I don't have any times for you yet but as soon as I get it to the track you guys will be the first to know how it performes. If you guys have any questions please feel free to ask.

Oh, just courious is any one willing to give up their stock 2001 lower blower pully. My motor didnt come with one on it and i would like to run it as stock as possible.

Check this post. I was thinking about doing this a few months ago too with an older 'stang but there are some good pics of a fox body with the L engine.
