Toast,
Did you have to take your switch apart or did you work through the holes. I looked at mine and I don't think there is anyway I can do it unless I do take the switch assembly apart. The holes are just too small and not in the right place.

i just took the assembly apart by cutting the tops of the heat tabs off. To put it back together all i did was use a glue gun and and place a drop where you should still see the heat tabs on top of each one. End result is an assembly which looks exactly like the original assembly, with the same way to take it off again should you ever need to.

Excellent idea Toast.... I hadn't thought of that one. That is what I will do. I was already to do the mod, had the directions from svtlightnings.com, but I really didn't want to take the switch apart. I know I will probably never be in there again, but I also did not want to permanently seal it up again.
Thanks!
Thanks!
No problem, i can't say how much i love my dremmel tool, it fits into so many places. Without it it would take a long time to file down, if you or anyone else doesn't have one i'd suggest using an exacto knife or something along those lines.
Have fun with your mod. Me, i can't wait till its dark so i can play around with it

Got the dremel, and I also love that thing. I have used it for a lot of small jobs (including the keypad mod). I think it will make the job a lot faster, and a lot cleaner if I take my time with the grinding.

According to the directions at svtlightnings.com, and by looking at the mechanism, you can have it where the lights come on anytime. You just need to follow the directions on what to do and once you see the mechanism, it will all make sense.
Sorry toast if you already responded! You have done the mod, I have not yet, I have only researched and looked at the assembly.

As one of the official writers of instructions on that web page, I can answer a few questions, although its been a while since I did the mod. Actually took the switch out of my '00 and put it in my '01.
The second ramp that I cut only allows the switch to be pulled out in the autolamp position. When it is pulled out in the autolamp position, my fogs are then always on. I believe this is an anomoly with DRL on Canadian L's.
To do the job properly, the faceplate should be pulled off as per the above instructions. Also, it really makes a difference if you cut the detent groove further around the shaft if you want the factory feeling "click" when you pull the switch out.

no problem to post pics,,, the L is dirty so don't mind that,, its raining and rain in the winter around here sucks cause salt just piles up on the truck
And yeah, it works great when you have auto lamps on,, makes it so you can run autolamps with the fogs on, or off
