Question Please help......oil pressure switch failure

My check engine soon light came on about a week ago and today was the first time I had time to check it out. I checked my codes and according to the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) on the dash, I have a oil pressure switch failure. Now I'm crapping my pants. What does that mean? Have I driven about 500 miles w/ out oil pressure or is it just something minor. My mechanical oil pressure guage on the dash is showing full pressure. I disconnected my battery for about 30 min and then took it for a 30 mile drive and its still showing this code. The check engine light is off now. BTW, I had the K&N breather on the valve cover and blocked it off at the boot, but I put it back to stock before taking it for the drive. If anyone knows what is going on PLEASE HELP! Thanks, Mike

Mike, don't worry. The dash test is bogus. All it checks is the cluster module, it does not test any other modules and cannot give you PCM DTCs. Every vehicle give the oil pressure code during that test. You need to get a scan tool hooked up to check the real reason for the light coming on.

I think anytime you check the odometer DTS codes it gives you that code. Mine will show the same code and there is nothing wrong with my truck.

Thanks guys! I was really stressing about this. I started getting paranoid and thinking that I was hearing all kinds of mess in the engine.
