i tell ya what.. print out this picture, then crawl under your nearest stock lightning, and compare the two.

here is the 4x4 pan i smashed the other day.

see if the stock lightning pan is as large as this pan...
it isn't.
you could use the stock internal tranny filter with this pan, if you want to have to rebuild your tranny.

the 4x4 pan is supposed to hold 2 more quarts of fluid versus the stock tranny pan.. i dont know if you are supposed to call that a "deep sump" pan or not. it just holds more fluid. take it for what it's worth.

The -BA pan is the deep pan with a drain plug, it holds 24 oz more fluid, the same dispstick works with both. The filter is cheaper from AutoZone part # Deutch TF-325 for the deep pan, TF-350 for the stock pan filter. The gasket is reusable.

If your tranny was built before 8/17/2001 it has a converter drain plug, if it's after that you prolly should go to a Jiffy Lube and have them do a flush fill, best way to get it all. Noe of the shallow pans has a drain plug, currently there are 2 pans, the deep with plug and the shallow without one. All 4x4s and about half of the 4x2s have the deep pan, the Lightnings come with a shallow pan stock.
