An S2000 for a Lightning

Just thought I'd tell you guys someone traded a Honda S2000 for a Lightning the other day at a dealership where I live. It looks funny setting there for sale at the FORD dealership. Think the guy made the right desicion? The only reason I ask is because I've driven an S2000, and I think they are pretty neat little cars. I've never been privledged to drive a Lightning, but I'd rather have one than an S2000!

Depends on his Needs

Having driven both.
With my Needs I would likely take the S2000.
It is just fun to beat on, handles great, and revs like mad.
But Both are fun.

It's a great little car. I guess it depends on what you want. I like the massive amount of torque in the L, plus being able to haul crap from Home Depot...the S2000 is a bit tight for my 6'2" frame...but if you love the super-high redline and awesome handling, the S2000's the way to go.

I'm still not sold on the styling of the S2000. Looks to vanilla to me. But I agree about the handling or revving capability. I have a 91 Civic hatchback for my winter vehicle. It's fun in it's own right, so I could only imagine what the S2000's like.

A friend of mine has one. The car is incredible but there is no way I would rather have it than my lightning.

The RSX is really starting to grow on me as well. Anyone know the specs, 1/4 times on those? How about a page about modifications?

I put 8000 miles on My 2001 S2000 before I sold it. I do miss it. The rear tires were bald. I upgraded the factory speakers and head unit. Sounded much better. I have only one regret. It is not in the driveway. I did pay $500. below the list. Bought it the first day it hit the ground. They had 5 sell that day.

Base model - mid to high 15's

The S2000 does have it'a good points. I drove one briefly and was really impressed with the engine, that thing revs like a gerbil strung out on crack!!!!

Watch this space, I am #3 on my local dealer's order book. White and yellow only. They claim 220 hp and 180 lb.ft...

With a good driver, you should be able to pull mid 14's all day long in a Type S......I test drove it and it's a nimble little car. Better torque than its Integra predecessor, and lots more of a Rev Range..........at least it feels that way.

The Type R is not supposed to come to this country until '04, MAYBE! So your dealer may be pulling your leg on the whole waiting list thing............at least, this was the last info I heard from www.honda-acura.net.

They do look nice though...........lower at an inch and a half, and get the OEM body kit, and it's a looker....

Angry

I was going to buy an S2000 before I ever thought of getting a Lightning, but the dealers here in SoCal were demanding too much for them. I found a dealer way out in Palm Desert who claimed he would sell me one at list, and I put a deposit down, but when the the cars arrived he stiffed me, claimed he only got one, when I knew for a fact he got two. The local dealers all wanted $5k - $10k over sticker, so I said f**k Honda, even though my wife and I really liked our Civics I would never buy another Honda. Then I decided that a Lightning would be a lot more practical, and would double as a tow vehicle for my boat, and I was right, sure glad I got it and not the Honda. And thats why when it came to get an econobox daily driver I got the VW instead of another Civic, and I am very happy with it. I was looking at WRXs, but the interiors are so chintzy, and I thought why do I need another performance car when I have the L., so I bought the diesel. I have real pride of ownership every time I look at either one of them, and I think they make an almost perfect stable. Now if I just had the money for a Lotus Elise.........
