Question Hey how come?

Hey i keep hearing oil breather cap.. Why do i need one, whats wrong with the factory set up.I have no mods do i still need one. Sorry im still learning about gen2 lightning..

my opinion: stock setup is fine.
Others' opinions: they dont like to see oil residue in the throttle housing.

I think its a good mod for a truck running extra boost or NOS. Stock you really do not need it. It helps to keep oil out of the intake boot...

I am not using a breather but what I've seen on the boards is that oil does cause a problem. I myself had smoke upon startup a couple of times which went away once I went back to 5w20 Motocraft synthetic.

Also... don't really know if this effects this problem... but I've seen a few throtlle bodies that are really dirty on the back side of the butterflies... it almost appears as carbon. Haven't check mine yet but I will.

Just food for thought. :o

K&n

I put a K&n breather on a few days ago... cleared it up a bit.. only ah $17 buck mod......

I have an oil breather for both the passenger side and driver side. They were really a waste of money. I used them only briefly a couple of hundred miles. I never had any oil in the intake boot, intercooler, or throttle body. I would say that it is not necesary. If you want to have one and be cool then by all means do it!
