Anyone with trans. slipping into 2nd gear?

Damn, 2nd gear has gone to s*** in my L! When it shifts into 2nd, it "slides" into it instead of the firm shift it use to have. I had Jim at JDM send another chip and it still does the same thing. Anyone else had this problem? I heard there was a TSB out on them, so guess Ill call the dealership. Only 4,000 miles too! Arrrrgh!

Make sure your fluid is full. Never hurts to check. Cars can leave a factory without fluids being right.....

One dealership here had a rearend lock up in a Cobra because the fluid was never put in!!

Dale01- Dealership checked and did not find any TSB's out on it. Im susposed to take it in in the morning. Called SVT and he said(Matt) that it sounded like the clutch paks were fried and that was a problem they kept having during testing of these trucks. Thats the reason for the torque reduction you feel when shifting to second gear in a stock L. He also said the chip voided my warranty!!!! I'll take the truck in and see what happens. If they void it, Ill just have the raybestos blue plate clutches installed and go about my buisness.

ICULOKN-Ill check the fluid just in case. Thanks!

I had the same problem when I first added my lower pulley. Then I installed the line valve mod and it went away. Now its back again and I'm going to give it the old College try and install the Level 10 1/2 shift spring I got. So I hope that is all I have to do.

outraegous01-was yours slipping bad or just a little? Also which line mod valve did you get? That may be an idea for me. Does it require a chip reburn?

There is a TSB about 4R100 transmissions having gear shift issues on units built prior to March '01. Let's just say, I know of the problem to which you refer. The question is, how do you get a new one with all of these modifications or is it even reasonable to ask?

I am very aware of the "if you're going to play, you better be willing to pay" theory, but if there is a known problem, you'd better find a "mod-friendly" dealer!!

WHAT04- Do you have any idea what that TSB # is? The dealership couldnt find it. If I had that #, it would make it alot easier. Thanks for the help!

Thumbs up Factory Tech

My truck started shifting very slow also on my 01 enough to make me run a few tenths slower at the track so i took care of that and did a complete rebuild with the factory tech clutch kit and i am extremely pleased how it shifts now.My shifts come in almost instant now and that is what i was looking for!

you know, my truck feels kinda funny on the 1-2 shift, but it still breaks the tires loose and lays some rubber down on the shift.
