The TSB I think refers to mechanical diode units, the time frame is about right. IF you have a code J1 it would apply to you, a 5X is something else. No Lightings were built with "old" mechanical diodes so the original recall on them does not apply to any L's. Get you code on the ID tag and I'll tell you whether the TSB is on yours. AS far as the clutch packs, High Roller has the 1st test design clutch packs I built, he got one of the test units, I've since changed a few things and they're even better now. Shoot me an E-Mail and I'll tell you how to get one. I use Raybestos blue plates, but not the ones availible on the open market, I'm led to believe the ones I use are only made for me and a few other techs, I pay about $175 for the actual plates to build a forward/direct pack with intermediate plates, you'll need to find a shop to install them, you need special tools.
As far as the "slide" goes, sounds like plates to me, could be glazed or fried, you might not get discolored fluid if they're glazed but if they burned up you'd have a burned smell. Either way they prolly need replaced. They would be able to find you used a chip, so they prolly will void your warranty.

Hope this helps,

G

FactoryTech- Thanks for the help!! I checked the fluid today and it is still a pretty transparent red color and not a hint of a burnt smell. I ordered a line mod valve and stiffer 1-2 shift spring today. Do you think that will stop the "sliding" temporary/long term? Im gonna try that first and see what happens. Damn! Why dont you live in Texas?!!!!

jmlay-Thanks for the info on Rob Hunt. Atleast now I know of someone thats experienced on the L tranny's living in my area.

FactoryTech- I crawled under the L today and it has a 5X on the tag. It also is leaking fluid out of the rear of trans. pan!
I read somewhere that you mark the tranny's you build, somebody drew a smiley face with fanged teeth and a pointed tail on the bottom of my tranny pan!!! WTF? Is that your mark or someone else's? LOL! I think it put a curse on my tranny or something.:o

No, it's not mine, they don't have pans on them yet when I work on them. I put a Gscribble (my signature would do a Dr. Proud) by the ID tag or a dot on the case by the dust cover, if it comes back again a quick way for me to know I've worked on it once. The face on the pan is either someone in button up, or the assembly plant.
If you re-torque the pan bolts (10-16 ft/lbs) it should clear up the pan leak.
