I spoke with Sal before adding the 3# pulley and stated I had concerns about detonation. I asked if the 160 stat would help. He seemed to think it would. Not wanting to speak for him but I recall a positive attitude. He does not sell them. I think maybe more research may be needed. I would accept the dyno numbers posted as good enough for me. To blame a thermostat for a slight loss of et seems well ,disputable. NO flames intended.

If a cold engine out performs a hot engine.......What is the question here?

Twisted,

Right on the money, You ICE down your motor at the track, You wait & wait for that puppy to be cold. I cant see a 160 stat makeing you loose power unless it makes it to cold for the plugs. Which a 160 really is arond 168 or 170 operating temp. Should not be nearly to cold at all!!!

Whoever yanks their 160 out, sent it to me!!! save me $25!!!

HIGHROLLER posted his dyno results not to long ago and he gained 8hp by changing from the factory thermostat to the 160 degree theromstat. So I can't imagine why you would lose .17 at the track from changing the thermostat!

Cool Dynoed all 3 stats

Yes i have dynoed all 3 thermostats on the same day and from going to the 160 stat made a noticeable difference of 4HP and 7 pounds of torque more than the 170 stat and lowered my air-fuel down a little lower also! My stat will stay in my truck!

No.... you ice down the intake not the motor, of course water drips all over the motor then.

This allows for a cooler air charge.
