I can't remember if I dreamed this or not....seems like it was going to be called a Storm? Basically a Lightning but can carry the whole family. I know that if such a vehicle could be had, that I would love to tote the family in one of these!

I used to have an Expedition..and anytime I got it to around 95mph or so...I didnt feel like I had total control. If they do make that, there is alot of safety issues that I'm sure are being addressed as far as making something that big that fast.
They actually had one at the Hotrod Power Tour last year. I saw it at the Effingham, IL stop. It was a black either Explorer or Expedition, can't remember. And it was called the Thunder. Didn't have the hood up though.
The gossip goes both ways. This has been talked about alot on this board, do a search and there was a link posted to a blue oval article about this. Yes it is supposed to be called the thunder if they produce it.
I have a copy-cat in silver...
...but its just the body stuff. Stock 5.4 in our Expedition. Oh, and I had to keep some sort of step rails (2 small kids), so it doesn't have the side valances. But go to my website if you want to see one that is pretty close to what the Thunder looks like.
I will say that with the nice wide rubber (285/55) on the 18" wheels the Expy rides and handles far, far better than it did stock. But, even if you improved the overall suspension dramatically in an effort to make it safer at speed...I don't know just how safe it would be.
OJ Coletti ran his prototype Thunder at Englishtown, NJ and Muscle Mustangs reports that it ran 13.69 @ 99mph at 5400lbs. I don't really believe that's a bone stock Lightning engine, but whatever its impressive.

Yup! You got Ford is going to go the HiPo route on everything. Superchargers for the Nav & Expi's. Big time power and SVT badges all over the place. Hey get real and smell the coffee. The next blown car is the "03" Cobra. Did you hear the one about the new GT 40 at One Hundred Thou a pop. Better get in line now or better yet run down to your local Ford dealer and give him a donation because that is what your deposit will be.
