Chip & Filter: on average.....?

What can I realistically expect with a flip-chip and Air Filter Element (tuner X, Y, or Z.......TBD).

I was hoping for the following 6 things:

-low 13's on F1's(13.20's or 13.30's or so?)
-370 RWHP
-being able to keep up with a stock C5 in "real-world" encounters
-Keep Daily Driver functionality
-not have to change stock plugs
-not suffer too much on fuel mileage

Am I being realistic, or which points am I way off on, if any?

I'm sure a lot of you started out with these types of expectations from your truck, and as the mod bug started biting you, pulleys, plugs, etc started entering the equation. That may or may not happen to me someday, but with a house getting built right now, my wallet makes the final decision. And right now, my wallet looks like a crack ***** (skinny!!!)plz advize.........................

thanks,
JC

Question Another question?

Will the transmission be hurt horably by lets say an agressive street program?

Went 13.14@104.xx with chip, filter, and no muffler.

Can you expect to keep up with a c5 in a street encounter?

Hell yeah! I was beatin' them left and right from a stop BEFORE the chip, and now they dont even wanna play, unless we go from a roll, and even then the win goes to whoever floors it first.

Its time to go find the guy with the Z06...

A chip and filter will put a 2001 into the 13.1 range. Just these two mods will ensure long life of the driveline and keep the owner happy.

Miami, I get requests such as yours all the time from customers. The basic idea is that you want a nice, safe daily driver, that's going to be trouble free and require little maintenance. At the same time, you want to increase performance. What I suggest to those who have that request, is the combination of our street program chip, our filter kit, and our 2 lb lower pulley.

Those 3 items on an 01 usually result in a truck that can run high 12s, and make about 380hp. I have many 01 customers at those levels to back that up. That is what I suggest for your needs. If I can help at all, just let me know.

My 00 ran 12.79 with a chip pro-m and et streets with the hitch and spare removed but with f1's at full weight probably closer to 13.00's. From what i have seen L's average 13.20's-30's with chip and filter at full weight.

What Sal said.........and I get 14-15 mpg--daily driven--stock plugs(just changed them out yesterday after 18,500 trouble-free miles). This was done with a 3lb pulley.

Thanks for the info Sal...........and thanks to all others as well!

One other question. Say I were to want just chip & filter, and then a few months down the road, I were to add a lower pulley (2 or 3lb max). Would I have to send the chip for a reburn, or can you have the flipside of the chip already burned and ready with that program. Or would the flipside of the chip be used for something else (i.e. valet mode, etc.)

thanks again,
JC

End quote:

Take a look at my mods. I haven't been on the strip yet so I can't give you any time slips but I know for a fact that my truck made a great jump in power when I installed the mods that you have chosen.

My fuel mileage has stayed the same. I would suggest two things extra though. Buy a line mod valve, 4x4 transmission pan/filter, and unplug the boost by pass.

With my mods, Mike Troyer @ Performance Products guaranteed me to be running in the 12 second range. I talked to him yesterday about adding a 2 or 4lb pulley and he said that a reburn would not be necessary in the area of the country which I live due to good quality fuel and altitude. North Carolina

Realistic? Very! You will achieve your goals and be thouroghly happy as a Daily Driver.

I have said this before but here goes again, before my mods my truck would run fast ( I thought ). It would spin the F1's through first gear and seem to fall flat on it's face in second gear due to the 3/4 drop that Ford programmed into the computer. No more, my truck will smoke the tires all the way to the top of second gear and absolutely FLY now! Expect a lot of difference, you will get it.

I hope this helps,

Chikenears
