6 years was the original plan, not 4.

As I said before 4 years was the original. I work for Ford in Windsor and the engines are made on the lvl (low volume line)at plant 2 here. There is no plans for any more motors after this year.

But for Union auto workers there is no incentive to bust your hump when Mr. Executive makes millions per year, works 1/2 a day if that, and then steals some if not all of your retirement from you. By working harder you are not helping yourself, you're helping him. Like I said, I believe in 8 hours work for 8 hours pay. But the pay scale in this country is waaaayy out of whack. My. 02.
Which executives are you referring to?? I am a salaried employee working at a Ford of Canada engine plant and the only 1/2 days I get are the one's I ask off for vacation. From the day I started 8 years ago, it's been non-stop. My longest day was 18 hours...nothing in my 'contract' about max. work hours, not doubling back on shifts, etc.

If I remember correctly, the UAW (US side) has negotiated profit-sharing for its' members so there is an incentive. How much do you think an hourly employee should make to run bolts into the chassis?? Yes, the pay scale is way out of whack...you and I are thinking in different terms though. People with your attitude are part of what's keeping our quality levels down...you make good money, have good benefits, and put food on the table every week. Life on the outside could be a whole lot worse...trust me, I've been there...working for $8/hr, poor health & safety, no benefits, driving a POS car sucks.

I don't always like my job but I am thankful for what I have and I always give 100% at work.

The contract expires this September!!! The original lightning run was only going to be for four years at four thousand units a year (we all know they made more though). The 02's would have been the end of the gen 2's run anyways. The F150 is do for a redesign in 03. Who knows when the next lightnings will be made .
Yes it does, but that doesn't give them enough time to move everything around, re-index lines, etc.

Don't put too much faith in the original plan...Ford changes plans all the time. There are a lot of rumors floating around right now...I heard Lightning engine production will continue but not at LVL. Have to wait and see...

Drtriton you know it's against the law to work no more the 16 hours straight... you should check out how the japan cars are made. it's almost like slave labour over there. lets say ford payed there enployes 10 dollars an hour do you think that the prices will go down I think not look at nike they make the shoes over sea's paying the workers next to nothing and using kids to make there shoes and selling them over here for hundreds of dollars...trucks are a ameracain icon, people should take pride in what there making in america, if not you know where you might end up looking for a job because there is someone out there trying to do better that you like the japanies...

Simply stated here, Kansas City has the only Flareside production area in North America, second we are the only U.S. production plant still on 10 hour shift (trucks/SUV), and the fact we are the one who will build the 2002 Harley/SVT Supercrew, we are the only plant at this time who builds the Supercrew and yes either Norfolk or KCAP will build the 2003 Lightning. Also the model change has been bumped another production year due to recent actions taken by Ford Motor Company and you see the 2004 F-series once you have seen the 2003 Expedition line up due this Summer sometime.

ShowYa in Kansas City...................
