Your poor truck.......poor dash...... Jesus i don't know if i could drive around with all those bars like that, glad i'm not planning on any major mods. What did they put for replacement glass were the bars come through, plexi or lexan?

There is a exception

Roll Bars
Unless otherwise required by your class:

Roll Bars required on convertibles running quicker than 11.00 - 13.99.
Roll Bars required on all cars running quicker than 11.00 - 11.99.

Roll Cages required on convertables running 10.99 or faster than 135mph.
Roll Cages required on all cars running 10.99 or faster than 135mph. - One exception: full bodied cars running between 10.00 and 10.99, with unaltered firewalls, floor and body (from firewall rearward - wheel tubes permitted) can compete with just a roll bar.
Faster than a 9.99 you need a chassis sticker and have the car reinspected every 3 years

GJLS is correct. Only a 5 point is needed for 10.00 and slower. I just had this done on my Mustang.

I have been told, by the three people that I had quote a cage install for me, that a 6pt is fine (due to the exception rule quoted earlier).

The question I can't get answered is wether or not the side bars have to be welded, bolted, or pinned into place for racing. Two said they had to be welded and one said the could be bolted.

I'm like you Sal, I don't want to drive 500 miles to a race, only to fail inspection, but there does seem to be a lot of confusion about this area.

If anyone can get a definitive answer, it would help us all.

The reason it's important to me.........I'm 6'3" tall and I don't think I can get in and out of the truck (daily driver) with the bar permanently installed.

PS......if someone has a kit available now.....let me know. Otherwise it's off to the custom guys.

BTW.....how much did you guys pay for a 6pt install? (anyone?)

I would think swing-outs are allowed.

One More Thing

Its nice to see that the tuners will all be offering some type of pre-bent kit. I wonder who will have them first, and for how much? But with a few different vendors offering them, it should help keep the price down for the rest of us.
