Question 20 inch rims

i just saw the 2001 lightning 20 inch rims in chrome and they look really good but i found out the tires are only 275/45/20. is there any way to get the rims to fit bigger tires. i just want the back to be 295 or bigger. the front tires i really dont mind.

What, you don't like the stock wheels?

Yes and no.

Depending on the wheel that is picked out sometimes they dont come in the width to support a tire.

so u cant put a 295 on a 7" wheel.

You can do many 20in wheels with bigger tires. Most guys here run 295/40 or 45/20. This is on a 8.5 to 9.5in wide wheel. I have 275/45/20's on mine just for the look with the lowering kit. My Wheels are 20x8.5 but I could have put the 295's on them. Its not what is reccomended for optimal performance, but it can be done...

The chrome replicas in 18x9.5, or 20x9 can be ordered from http://www.aaarims.com/cgi-bin/Web_store/web_store.cgi The 20x9's are $1,800.00 shipping included. A 9" rim width is marginal to support a 295, but often used. Enter Product ID # 34201D-20-c when you go to the link.

Chickenears

I have the same set-up with the dunlops 295/40/20 . How do you like the ride? I can definately feel the difference with the less sidewall. A little (I mean little) bumpier, but they feel and look TIGHT(many compliments).I Did have to put the 2 inch drop in back to fill wheelwells.
Thinking about putting on the 1 inch coil that is sitting in my basement.

Vinnie,

I'm like you, I can feel a little harder ride but is so insignificant that it doesn't bother me at all. I have the two inch drop shackles too and it's just not low enough. I'm trying to decide which lowering kit to use.

Do you think that the Dunlops stick as good as the F1's?

The Dunlops feel harder then the goodyears. I will be going to my race shop tomorrow and I have a durometer( It measures tire hardness) there. I will do both tires and find out if there is a significant difference in compound hardness.
