Angry Sonofabitch!!!

My L (less than a month old!) got defaced yesterday!

Last night I went to the Blockbuster near my house, and being as **** as I am about door dings and the such I park carefully enough so no one could open their door into my pretty machine. I go into Blockbuster to pick out a movie (The Fast and the Furios, man what a dumb movie, but he did drive a red L in it). I come out and I'm walking across the parking lot when I see 4 people standing around my truck, I'm thinking to myself this has gotta be bad . When I get there my baby has a smashed front bumper, both grills, and a dent in the hood .

The people standing around actually saw the damnsonofamutherfker back right into my truck with his late model Dodge 4x4. They said that he backed into it, stopped and got out look at my poor L and got back in and drove off. The people that saw it called the cops and got his license plate number and they all waited around for the cops to show and fill out the usual witness forms, I'm totally thankful of these people.

After all the BS I went home thinking that they'll never catch this bastard. About 20 min. later the cop called and told me that they found the truck and the driver . But, surprise, no insurance.

Now, I'm just waiting for my insurance company to call me back to find out if I'm screwed right in the goat a$$.

All right I'm done venting.

the other guy atleast got a ticket for leaving the scene of an accident and your insurance company can go after him as well. Any good insurance should have you taken care of pretty well.

You can take him to small claims court and sue him for your deductable and court costs. You will almost definatley win unless this guy is such poor white trash that the judge can't.

Dang, man! I am sorry, I would be mad enough to bite Ozzy over that. I hope everything works out, and I hope you don't end up paying out money. Good luck with the near future, dude!

If you have uninsured motorist coverage, the only problem you should have is the knowlege that your brand spanking new L has already been damaged. And by somebody else at that! GRRRrrrrrrr!

Sorry to say I know how you feel. I just back from the body shop with my repair estimate in hand for a hit and run in the parking lot from before Christmas. $620.00 out of pocket for some jerk who was too chicken to stick around. This, fortunately was for my Denali. That's right, the same one that got hit by the car that got hit by the drunk driver. Seems like a giant white truck is pretty hard to see. (As my wife says, "It's too big to disappear in your blind spot!")

I feel your pain, but at least they caught the ***** that hit you.

Thumbs down bring back summary executions...

I have been involved in two accidents with people who didn't have insurance, and my feeling is that the cops should just execute the deadbeat/dirtballs on the side of the road and leave their rotten carcasses for the crows. The one party I took to court (female), was found culpable and ordered to pay me, but she didn't and the cops eventually had to go collect it. Finally got my $$$$ but it wasn't worth the hassle.

These people are the lowest of the low as they have no respect for the laws nor for other people's property. As a future Lightning owner (June 2002, I hope), all I gotta say is that if someone damages my truck, they BETTER have insurance!

Angry GRRRR!

Thank goodness there are still decent people out there willing to stand up & be a witness.

I was shipping some of my Cobra parts a few weeks back, pull up in the Lightning, get out & this guy in a Jeep (owned by Daimler Chrysler... Coincidence? I think not) backs into the car next to me. I flag him down, tell him 'hey, you hit that person's car' He says 'so, there's nothing wrong with it?!' I say
'Let me put it another way, you leave without notifying the driver, I call the cops, hit & run is a felony in VA. You don't just nonchalantly smack another vehicle with a 5000 pound truck & just drive off' He parks, does the right thing. I conclude my business, leave a follow up note to the poor hapless sod identifying the transgressor. Idiots...

Fortunately, it's not an 'at fault', so it won't raise your rates. I'd sue him & put a lien on any property he has that you can recoup money from...

Do you know the lic#?????
I know its not the right thing to do but that guy who hit you is a ***** so be a ***** back. With the Lic# you can find out his name and address, Magically his truck could end up with some slashed tires or even worse sugar in his gas tank
If someone hit my truck and drove off he'd get more than just a ticket or a court date

2ManyToys - My Heart Goes Out To You

I know exactly how you feel. In August, my 2 week old red 2001 with only 600 miles on it sustained almost $7000 in damage from gravel falling out of a gravel truck going the opposite direction as me on a local 2 lane highway. While driving through this"meteor storm", it was hit by no less than 150 3/4" stones. If I had been on my bike, I might not be here now. After I turned the L around and chased the b@stard down, I got the same bad news. It was an independant owner/operator with NO INSURANCE. The driver was cited with having no insurance ($500 fine), and having an unsecured load ($200 fine). My insurance company paid the bill under my Comprehensive policy so I had no deductible, but it should have gone under the Collision policy, where it should have cost me $500. They told me that if the rocks flew directly off of the other truck and into mine, it is covered by comprehensive. If they bounced off of the road first, then it would have been covered by collision. After they explained that, of course they flew directly off of the other guys truck and into mine. For those who don't know, Uninsured Motorist coverage only pays for Medical bills you sustain by being hit by an uninsured motorist. Property damage is not covered by uninsured motorist.
To keep his CDL license, the guy has to first pay the local county his $700 in fines(screw the victim again), and then he is supposed to repay my insurance company what they shelled out. I think they will be waiting a long time to get reimbursed from this deadbeat.

After having the 2001 repaired, I promptly traded it in on a Blue 2002. I feel better now, but I went through a lot of hassle with my insurance company, the body shop, and took a beating on the trade in value on my 2001.

I wish you luck in getting your truck repaired properly, and some justice for the SOB who hit it.

jaymz - This was also my second incident with an uninsured motorist, and I feel the same way as you about this.
This guy was lucky that Illinois is a no carry state.

This subject always chaps my backside

Only over here does the criminal have more rights than the victim. People have got to be held accountable for their actions.

I think if you hit a vehicle and you're uninsured, you're vehicle should be immediately handed over to the victim, along with an order to pay *all* damages including rental car costs, etc. I know most uninsured cars are a POS anyway, but even the most POS can net a few hundred $$ if it's driveable.

I remember one of my "favorite" (read sarcastically) college classes was that public speaking class we all had to take.

But! The most memorable speach I ever heard in that class was one where a guy from a country over near Russia compared the driving rules and habits of some overseas locations with our laughable America. First, there's no using a turn signal when you feel like it. No turn signal over there is a citation. Period. Over here, turn signals are like optional equipment on some models. Over there in one country (can't remember which), two incidents of driving while intoxicated results in execution on the spot. No, this is not a joke, they are *very* serious about drunken driving. Anyone care to guess what the drunk driving rate is? If you guessed NONE give yourself a pat on the back. I can hear it now "GASP! That's barbaric! How can they do that!". No, what's barbaric is when a drunk driver crosses the median on a highway and kills a family of four on their vacation. What's more, this is the driver's third offense, his license is suspended, and he's uninsured.

Sorry for the long rant, but it really ticks me off when the system falls apart for folks like us who work hard for what we have and it costs us time, money, and aggrivation when some jerk decides to save $40 a month and not pay insurance.

Hope you get your truck fixed and that jerk is held accountable.

Sorry to hear about your truck. I know how you feel.

On Christmas Eve, My L got hit in a parking local lot. My wife was picking up my x-mas present. The offending party didn't leave a note, just a torn up fender.

Why should A$$holes like that take responsability for their actions. It's going to cost about $60 less than my deductable. Typical
