Question Turbo Civic

Hey guys i figured i ask the opinions of my fellow L bros...

there is a kid in town who has a 00 Civic Si

He has a Jackson Racing Supercharger on it .

He ran 15.6 ets. I'm not a ricer person but hes braggin to all my friends he has a Drag Turbo gen.3 T3/T4 hybrid he's putting on.

he claims he'll "smoke" me no contest..

I want to now if i should shut my mouth or keep talking till it's out and about.

i ran a 13.11 stock on bald f1's i don't know how he thinks he'll drop 3 secs. + from stock times.

He's mad because i stole my truck for $24,500 and he has almost $25 grand ( body kit, rims, minor motor parts, and misc. Pep Boys ricer parts) in his and still can't touch me.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

With the amount of boost needed to "beat" you he had better have an engine and fuel system ready to live up to it.

I would get a chip and pulley to drive in the nails though

Be Careful,
He may drop in a bigger turbo & a big shot of Nitrous just to take you. I wouldn't worry too much, I'd let him talk then see what happens. The GOOD NEWS is, even if you were to lose, you still have a Lightning & he'll have a 30 K+ Civic.

Talk him up, let him think he will win. That way no matter what you get the last laugh. If you lose by a lot (doubtful), you already knew he would and he can't rub it in too much. If it is close you can say that your is still stock, so you expected it. If you smoke his *** like I think you will, then you can rub his face in the dirt with your cheaper stock L

Nope, ain't gonna happen. This coming from a guy with a turbocharged 4-cylinder ('86 Mustang SVO) who plans on putting a T3/T4 on his. I also happen to have an L as well. Let him run his mouth and then embarass him infront of his friends.

if he has a 00 si with a jackson racing supercharger he has to be running a faster time than a 15.6,that is what they run stock.i have driven a 94 integra LS with a jackson charger and it was freakin fast and they only have 140hp without a JS charger compared to the si with 160 stock.

Yeah, what Dave said. Honda don't know squat 'bout making no fast cars. Or motorcycles, neither.

Thanks for the feedback guys,

I actually partied with him tonight. He's not a bad kid but has a BIG MOUTH.

One of my friends (another L fanatic) told me while i was typing the first post he was talking *****. I try not to let it bother me but I'm very competitve and love my L.

Well Happy New Year to all
and thanks for the feedback.

With enough money and enough mods, anybody can build anything to beat something else. As much as I hate the ricers, I have (on very rare occasion) seen some fast ones at the track. The fastest I have seen was an 11.60, but he had a completely gutted interior, huge turbo pushing like 25 lbs of boost and nitrous. Recently there was a 240SX with a turbo that ran a 13.2 at our track. And then I also saw some other unknown ricer run a 13.2.

Bottom line is this with the turboed motors: Crank out tons of boost and they will perform. Just remember 1 atmosphere
(14.7 psi) of boost is effectively doubling the size of the motor. So for example a 2.2 liter motor with 15 lbs of boost is equivalent to a 4.4 liter motor.

Chances are you will outrun this guy. BUT, you never know to what extreme his turbo setup will be. I never count my chickens before they hatch. I've seen some pretty surprising cars at the track.

Oh, I leave you with this thought: I bet the guy in the Z28 never knew what was coming when he got smoked by the little Dodge 2.2 liter (turboed, but totally stock appearing) mini van in the one video that circulated the web. I believe the minivan ran like very low 12's? Oh, and how about the Z06 video that got annihilated by TOTALED running an 11.6 on this board!

I've got the video of the neon beating a viper at the dragstrip. Captainoblivious posted it some time back, but the link isn't any good now. If anyone has the means to post it I can e-mail it to you.

12.6 @ 105 MPH, pump gas, stock inards, daily driver. I used to own an '86 Lebaron with the same engine, with slightly less boost. It was a 4 door. I screwed around with Z28's and Mustangs all the time at the freeway on ramp. 180,000 miles and still rocked!

How close is Franklin MA to Hartford, CT. I had no trouble beating up a Honda with a supercharger on it. When looking out the rear view mirror I couldn't tell what kind he had or how much boost he was running. You WILL smoke him off the line. Don't race him with a rolling start (30mph), I once had a VW Fox turo with NOS (and a rotted fender beat me EASILY that way. I had a chip, cold air intake and ran a 13.1 at the time. If your not to far from Hartford you need to come down and play on the Berlin TPK on the weekends during the summer months.
