Do you have to run that antenna on the outside though?
can they mount it in the inside?
I want to get an XM setup for my work vehicle.
how do you like it?

I dont think you can mount it inside - they have multiple types of antenaes for it though - this was the only other one my shop had that wasn't that huge shark fin looking one...

I like it alot - it really cut down my cd use. Theres always something new to listen to, unlike the local radio stations that play the same thing over and over (when they arent playing commercials)

The head unit really woke my system up. I has 4 different controls just for the sub - I still havent figured it all out...

One bad thing about the Antennas.....It really makes you a target for car stereo thieves. The XM radios are really hot on the "most wanted" lists. The Antennas make it really easy to spot who's got'em. Good luck...be sure to take the face with you!

I just installed that same Alpine in a friends POS riced out Integra. He didn't want the xm radio stuff. Only prob is that you can't connect the constant power wire to the cars wiring harness you have to take the wire directly to the fuse box

ACK that antenna blows =).. Only reason i say that is i have had both. I much prefer the one i ended up with.

I think it looks WAY better and really you don't even notice it unless your lookin for it.

I also have the alpine deck (7875) and teh XM addon(terk antenna)

Spanky,

What on earth are you talking about?

Brandon

PS i have done 30+ of the alpines, all sourcing the constant power from behind the headunit, and have had 0 problems...

Not sure who makes it but the mobile one's in houston now have an antenna that is mounted to the inside of the back window. Its almost as thin as paper and is barly noticable inside or outside unless you point it out.

Ebbsnflows,

Not sure who told you that, the XM modules are worthless to teh theives, the ID is hardset and cannot be changed, so if it has been subscribe NO ONE can use it. Yes it does help theives figure out if you have somethin in your truck but its far from a 'hot list' item. I seen 0 xm's stolen thus far. Obviously this varies from area to area, but with 550+ stores we have not seen it...

Any of the XM antennas are interchangable.

The 3 i know of that look 'decent' are the through glass mount which JBL has, the hard wired setup which i have on mine (both from Terk) The pioneer one that looks similar to the Terk but larger, and teh sony that resembles the 'shark fin'.

Out of them all for lightning I would definitly suggest the one i have. Why? easy to run it hard wired on these trucks and doesn't look butt ugly on the back window =)

Talking

I have the Alpine unit and the same antenna mount as Crazyone, mine is mounted back much closer to the brake light.....very stealthy and I havn't had any signal loss with the low profile Terk unit.

Initially I had the Pioneer antenna mounted internally by the back window and the reception was horrible!

I considered the mount that JBLsilver01 used, but it was way too intrusive.

I listen to XM more than CD's or FM now.....great selection!

Crazyone

that particular alpine draws a lot of power. I believe alpine tells people to install the constant power wire to the fuse box or to the battery. I think there is a tag on the constant wire telling people NOT to connect it to the factory wiring harness.

Do you have a manufacturer and part number for that low profile antenna? If/when I get XM, thats the antenna I am using.
