Another Sport Truck article............

Some of us were flamin' ST a few weeks ago about their 'Truck of the Year' award but in the same issue(Feb. '02) on pg. 179 is an article that interviews Jerry Magnuson of 'supercharger' manufactoring fame. Some interesting comments on reliabilty, increased performance, the future(see what he says about GM trucks), etc.

what was wrong with sport truck and they're decision in the truck they picked, the new Ram is bad ***, especially on 20s, its huge, it looks awesome rides like a caddy and had nice interior, its the perfect off road truck, some guys like performance trucks, and some guys like trucks for what they were really made for, off road hauling and things like that, the ram was just the better pick, if they were judging it by performance and handling, the lightning would have one, its all good..i own a R/T and i know the L is the fastest truck they make, it just isnt as good all around as the new Ram in things trucks are supposed to do, not things that we bought our trucks (R/T's and Lightnings) for..

I think the L's retail price will always be a downfall when compared to some of the other trucks.....

When we were buying the Lightning, we looked at a fully loaded Lariat F-150 and it was four grand more than the Lightning.

I am talking about the trucks in the SPORT TRUCK article, not ones on lots...... Our L's is one of the highest in there other than the luxury ones....

cnyelo, i can understand what you are saying but this is sport truck mag. not 4 wheeler or motor trend truck of the year. this is sport truck a mag that writes about performance and speed not hauling dirt or 4 wheelin through mud. if you read what the pros say they say that the L is the " bench mark of a sport truck " ( from that same article) i would not be writing or watching this board if i did not love my truck and i'll be damned if a article in a mag. is going to tell me that a ram is a better sport truck
cnyelo i do not want to start a war this is just my 2 cents

The SSR is yet to be given the go for production (to my knowledge). And the Sy/Ty's were quick and stock for stock, and would beat the L in the 1/4. But out on the highway the L would just walk off. Just open the intake on an L and it will run side by side with a Sy/Ty in the 1/4.

The ram 1500 sport on 20s, stickers at 32k, just like the Lightning.

Ford has spent $0 on advertising the Lightning. You need look no further for any reasons for the truck mags to ignore it as best they can.
