Angry Tires, what the HECK !!!

My local Discount tire wants $ 285 for the Nitto 555's and $ 315 for the F1's. What gives? I thought the F-1's were going for $199 and the Nitto 555 (not r) were going for around $225???

THe cheaper prices are by purchasing on line or over the phone I believe. I have bought several sets of the F-1's form Tire Rack for about $200.00 a piece. Next day shipping is about $8.00. Not sure about the Nitto's.

Some of the Discount tires here will match Tirerack prices. Print the Tirerack shopping cart including shiping costs and see if they will match... It would make sense that they would prefer to make a dollar or 2 on the sale AND a dollar or 2 on the install and balance

I am just curious, but what is the best tire you can buy? I do not know a lot about tires and I was just curious what is the best you can buy? I heard a lot about Perelli and Toyo. Which ones do you guys believe are the best? I am almost due for a new set of tires.

The Dunlop Sport 9000 have really good specs and price (right in line with the F1's). Tire Rack. Good looking tire.

Best for what? Drag racing? Road racing? Rain? Snow? Longevity? The answer would be different in all of the above cases. Tires are a compromise, they can't be optimized for everything at once. The stock F1s are an extremely good compromise for all of the above, except snow, but not the best for any one of them. So, ciione, if you could be more specific about your intended application we could perhaps be more definitive in our recommendations.

And yes, blown, the Nittos are available. See CalLightning's post. I have a pair on my truck now. Got them at America's Tire (affiliated with Discount Tire).
