TR6's + BIG HANDS = NO FUN!

Title says it all. I can EASILY palm a basketball, I wear a size 14 shoe, and I have 12"... of extensions.

First time changing and it took 2 hours, not bad considering it took 10 minutes to get the back passenger side plug out and I was looking at various things as well. Cranked it up and had a miss right off the bat. Damn. Then starting looking and forgot to plug in the last fuel injector.:o The miss disappeared.LOL

Hint: You BETTER have a telescopic pen magnet or you will catch the devil getting plugs out.

BTW, one plug was FINGER TIGHT! I've read on here about guys have told people to check the factory plugs for tightness after a few have had plugs blow out... DO IT!

Don't forget to have compressed air handy. You'll need it to blow out any dirt around the plugs before you take them out.

I used a 7mm open wrench instead of a pull bar. Pretty straight forward. Also be aware that the plugs are in the head at an angle so pay attention when tightening the plugs. I screwed them in all the way by hand then torqued them down. Just take your time and it shouldn't be any problem.

Go to LTNBOLT's webpage. Very good tips and procedures. YOU WILL NEED A TELESCOPING MAGNET and patience . It's really not that bad.

NO, NO, NO...

I have changed my plugs & it's no big deal. ONLY thing that has to be removed is the 7mm bolts that hold the Coil Packs on, remove the Coil Packs & then remove the plugs. I used a 7mm short socket, a 1/4" universal, & a 10 "X 1/4" extension to remove the coill packs, the only tricky one is the 3rd from the front on the drivers side. To remove the plugs I used a 5/8" Spark Plug socket, 3/8" rachet, a 3" ext, a 4" ext., a 6" ext, & an 8" extension. It's tight in there, but really straight forward, it took me less than 1 1/2 hours to change to the Densos. The fuel rails do not need to be removed, the injectors do not need to be unplugged, etc., although on the rear 2 plugs on the passenger side there is an intake tube that needs to be pulled out of the top grommet, but never removed. BTW, I also have very large hands, can palm a basketball by catching it while dribbling, wear XXL Mechanix gloves, etc. Good luck...

ha haaaaa

decided to check to see if my plugs were loose today and became acquainted with the 5.4 spark plug system, after it took me 10 minutes to figure out where they were (boy i miss my 351 broncos!!). Holy Shiznit!!! With there being about 2 hours till darkness, looks like if my plugs are loose, they be that way at least until sunday!!!!

CC,

I know what you mean, and my hand does too!!!

I wear a size 15 shoe and a 15 ring size!!!

I banged my hands up pretty good!!!

I had to use a 4 1/2 pound teloscoping magnet to get that damn 7mm coil bolt out of the spark plug hole. That is a must have for the job!!!

I found it was easier if i duct taped all my extensions and u-joints/swivel sockets together. That way, they won't keep coming apart while you wrench.

You don't need much.
