ice sensor??
ice sensor??
Just last night my L saw the first very little flakes of snow its ever seen. Only one weird thing happened you guys all know the gauge on top of the winshield that tells the temperature and direction your headed. That gauge continually flashed "37" then "ice" it flashed at a slow rate until it was done snowing. Does this mean its got an ice detector in it, or maybe the sensor itsself was clogged with ice. Anyways, thought it was weird, its been as low temperature as 25 degrees outside with a slight drizzle outside that was turning to ice and none of this has ever happened.
Just confused and wonder if anyone else has noticed this.

There's actually what's called an RCS(Road Condition Sensor). It's something new from Ford that I read about. They said they would be doing it soon, but I didn't know they actually implemented it already.
That's cool... I wonder if I was at the beach, if it would read "Sand".

my '00 does that too.. when it gets to 38 degrees (a rarity here in louisiana) it flashes "ICE" several times to warn you that there could possibly be ice on bridges/overpasses/ect. they usually freeze over first.

I've had it happen to me only once when it snowed outside yesterday though, maybe they made them smarter
i just find it weird that its been that cold before, including today, but the only time its ever done it is when it snowed a very very small amount yesterday. Still i think its pretty cool.
Does everyone on here know about the seatbelt thing too. It sure does bug me when it continually beaps from not having a belt on, but i'd say that it works 100% of the time i forget to put my belt on, i hear that beap and i just stick it on to make the thing shut up. Way to go safety people at ford for actually making an annoying beep thats worth a dime

Both of my 88 merkur xr4ti's had this sensor. Displayed in a triangle on the display. They have been around a while.
My 95 SHO has a display button you push do indicate the outside ambient temp.

Seat belt reminder..............
Some government agency is praising Ford for their 'seat belt reminder'. To me, it's extremely annoying. I always(my son won't even 'start' his car until the passenger belt's up) buckle up--even drove my 91 Z281LE and buckled up the 5-point harness everytime too. But that 'reminder' keeps on bonging as I roll down my driveway. Go to pg. 120(I think) of your owners manual and read how to disable the noise if it bothers you too. The 'icon' still lights up on the dash.
