Tickets
Tickets
i just got a ticket for doing a burnout in a parking lot and i have a question. on the bottom of the ticket the cop put that i was doing doughnuts, well there is one problem with that, i wasn't doing doughnuts. he also put that i was spinning the tires which i was doing. can i get this ticket thrown out because of that?
I have had many experiences with my local police department with my truck but mainly with my mustang. Trying to fight a ticket by arguing over a misritten ticket will get you knowwhere. But thats only my personal experiences. 90% of my tickets were all over my stupid tinted windows that i refuse to remove and my really sweet language when getting stopped buy the same cop every single time. Here in PA spinning tires is like a reckless driving ticket and is points and usually a heafty fine. Iwould take it to court and see if you can pleabargin it down to something less. MY opinion is if the cop wrote you up for doing doghnuts he was probably pissed that you werent sharing any with him. Thats right he was to busy sticking tickets up your a$$ while the departme t store nexr door was being robbed ! J K
no
no,his word against yours and his wins.and any other people who dont like cops becuase they give u tickets for doing stupid **** in front of them its your own fault.

I know around here the police won't even come out if you have a wreck in a parking lot because they can't write a ticket. You need to check into whether it's a private lot or city owned.
If you do a search for tickets, half of what you find on this forum will probably be mine so unfortunately I can tell you that unless you were doing NOTHING wrong and can prove it, you're kinda screwed. If he has something critical like the date wrong you are pretty much dead in the water. When I first got the truck I was with about 60 people in Weld county and we were racing in the middle of nowhere. We were just standing around though when the county cops and state patrol showed up and wrote every driver (about 30) aiding and abetting a speed contest ticket, I told the state patrol officer, who was obviously angry to be there in the first place that the big white truck was mine and I didn't know where we were and I only knew one guy that was there all of which I was true, but I left out the good stuff and bless his heart I can almost guarantee he wrote that ticket for the wrong date on purpose and I was the only one who walked. Think of it this way, if you were to see the cop that ticketed you and tell him hey...I wasn't doing doughnuts, I was spinning my tires (which is an exhibition of speed and 12 point ticket in this state) and he changes it to spinning tires, you are still breaking the law. As a matter of fact, you might want to check your states definition of exhibition of speed and what constitutes it, he may have cut you a break if you guys work on a points system

What A Steaming Pile!
Gang:
After having just yesterday made a trip to the Clermont County Courthouse in Batavia, Ohio (a cesspool of the first order, I can assure you) to pay off a racent extortion demand from the local constabulary (read - "speeding ticket"), I would say that this timely post has caught me in a ripe mood. Thus follows my assessment of the whole riduculous, incestuous situation.
First, the fact that a significant portion of the "law enforcement" community (what a ridiculously euphemistic term) spends their day hasling law-abiding commuters on their way to/from work while ALL MANNER of evil is being perpetrated under their noses is simply dista****l and offensive. While you are sitting on the side of the road, late for work, while some lightly-educated cement-head with a gun extorts $75 from you (and facilitates further extortion by the legal and insurance communities), a shamefully large number of filthy mother-humpers are out robbing homes, stealing cars, snatching purses, raping wives (and daughters), and flat out murdering honest, workaday folks. Apparently, this fact is lost on "law enforcement", who appear to have nothing better to do than grease the wheels of this revenue machine. Any, and I mean ANY "law enforcement" officer, sworn to PROTECT the rights of the citizenry, who has EVER partaken in this activity, is a filthy swine, no more, no less. If one happens to be your neighbor, for the love of all things sacred, please, PLEASE, fling your dog poo all over their siding or sugar the tank of their Camaro for me. Please.
Second, recognize that this all-encompassing scam could, and does, ONLY occur in the otherwise wonderful United States of America. Think, for a moment, of the overwhelming absurdity of the exercise. This perverted concept of "traffic enforcement" in no way improves safety on the highways - to the contrary - it causes the average motorist to concentrate on all sorts of things other than the basic driving task and leads them to regularly commit rather stupid acts (like jam on the brakes in tight traffic, despite traveling UNDER the posted speed limit). Traffic flow is slowed and disrupted, further increasing danger. Essentially, every one of us is funding, through our taxes, a pure revenue enhancement scheme that also produces, as a bonus, highway congestion and hazards. Now, don't think for a MINUTE that this is the situation around the world. I have traveled extensively in Europe, South America, and Australasia. Let's toss South America out of the analysis, as it is simply lawless and chaotic, with nightmarish driving conditions. In the rest of the "civilized" world, traffic laws (by this I mean "speed limits") are pretty relaxed, people sometimes obey them, and everybody gets along fine. The relatively few police in coutries like Germany or France or Denmark or Switzerland (or wherever) spend their time rooting bad people out of their holes and incarcerating them. When vehicles collide on the highway (which happens at the same or less frequency as it does in the US), they respond and clean it up. For example, I recently spent 10 days in Germany and drove a total of about 1300 miles, mostly on the Autobahn (interstate highway) system. I saw, the entire time, ONE traffic enforcement officer. He was parked in a rest area, facing traffic, likely sleeping. I shot past him at 205 kph (127 MPH), LEGALLY, and nobody was hurt or killed. To a less extreme extent, this is typical in the rest of the world. Our situation is shameful and just plain ridiculous.
And before somebody brings up September 11, let me take care of that one, also. A whole bunch of policemen got squashed, right down to their constituent molecules, under a million tons of rubble. Those who were in that area attempting to save victims of the terrorist acts were/are heroes of the first order. Now let's talk about the remainder of the United States "law enforcement" community who were not involved in the incident and are still on the job today. The few who care about the safety of you and I and RIGHT NOW tracking down bad, bad guys are not necessarily heroes, but worthy of respect for doing an important job, and doing it well. The rest, and I mean ALL THE REST, are worthless scumbags.

Well...
BBQ:
Quite the ticket, indeed. A big 80 MPH on a flat, freshly paved, three-lane interstare highway with very light traffic and decent weather conditions, during the daytime at that. In the commuter mule. And I was polite and repentent. I should also mention that this was no more than a week after returning from the 'Bahn.
The absurdity of the whole thing really galls me. On that road, 120 MPH would be safe and appropriate with decent hardware (like a Lightning). Nowhere in Europe (or Canada, for that matter) would that have cost $75 and allowed the insurance folks to make a grab. Certainly, it wouldn't have taken me a quarter of the way to a revoked licence.
When you look at the big picture, you relize how damn absurd the whole scheme is, how the rest of the world laughs at us (relative to the ENTIRE legal system), and how we have, like a bunch of sheep, laid down and allowed ourselves to be butt-raped by agents of "the government", which, literally translated, means "ourselves".
It's just plain stupid. Stupid, I tell you.
Is there one person on this board, just one, who thinks that the whole speed limit/traffic enforcement situation in the US is logical and reasonable? Do any of you feel that raising the posted (rural interstate) speed limit to 80 MPH (or 90, for that matter) would turn our highways into a slaughterhouse?
I concede that we would have to impose strict inspection/registration laws to get all of the junkers off the road. That's how it works overseas, and why it will never work in the US. Damn, this pisses me off. Royally.

In my 13 years of driving, I never once received a speeding ticket untill the past 6 months where I've received 4. Not to happy about it because I am in fear of losing my license when I go to court for the last one I got. I was in the Marines and I was stationed in Chicago where I got pulled over 9 times in one year and was able to not get any tickets. I guess my luck has run out.
I have cop friend who is also a lawyer and he says to fight a ticket due to a technicality such as soemthing not right on the ticket itself or a jurisdication issue, you will need a lawyer. If you represent yourself, the judge will always side with the cop. Good luck!
