JDM Runs 11.405@118.50 (NO NITROUS)
Bill, I don't want to "accuse" Jim of anything, but I can surely understand where a lot of the "doubting" and "speculation" comes from. Just being a regular person who reads these boards, I can honestly say that there are questions that come to mind about Jims truck, and I know others have the same questions.
- The truck gets 2-3 tenths faster at every event, yet Jim doesn't say what's been changed.
- None of Jims customers run anywhere near those times.
- Jim turns the same 60fts at 11.40 as he did at 12.40. Anyone who races these trucks knows that low 60fts are imperative to turn good ETs. However Jim has gone a full second quicker and yet has the same 60fts.
This is the stuff that people notice when reading the boards. A lot of aspects about Jim and his truck do not "match" what most people know, and since there are never explainations, that leads to speculation. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, just that I CAN understand how and why it gets started. Again, not trying to put Jim down, just trying to show why some people say and do the things that gets everyone upset.

Good points Sal, however, there's a lot of people on these boards that won't go into the details of how they prep their trucks for the track. It's just to keep a competative edge on the weekends. It's not illegal or wrong in anyway it's just smart racing.
2. Trucks get faster as the tuning gets better.
3. There are guys in the midwest that can run comperable numbers to Jim's. Not .40's but within reason and we race at a higher elevation than you right coast dudes.
4. Jim has gotten way quicker 60's now than last year. His times have been posted last year and the short times were in the 1.65 range. Again, another thing to consider is the weight of his '01, lighter drag wheels, roll pan, no passanger seat etc.
Either way I think that ALL Lightning specialists are doing a great job and the fact that we have 11 second daily driven PICKUPS !!! I think should be commanded and celebrated. There's nothing on the road that can compare. Happy Holidays to all !!!!

RTKILLA,
I'm glad to see that you are not typing any crap, I do understand completely for you standing behind Sal and PSP, ***** if Sal was my tuner I would be there with you. And with that I am sure you can understand why I stand behind Jim and JDM.
I have always said there are no wrong choices when it comes to picking your tuner, you picked PSP and I picked JDM. Is one of us wrong? I don't think so, we picked who we thought would be best for us and if Sal has treated you as good as Jim has treated me, than I'm sure you are as satisfied as I am.
Spiro,
I did not se you run the 12.40 that has people thinking, Maybe it was a good run and there wasn't a clock mistake, or maybe there was a clock mistake and you wanted to run so good that day that you really believe you did. That is fine by me, I just wanted to show you how it felt when someone was doubting you. It does't make you feel good does it, You have to remember that I am A LOYAL JDM person, and when someone knocks JDM they are also knocking me and that really pi$$es me off. And it always seems to be the same ones, everyone knows you are bitter about JDM so why can't you just leave it at that and not post something negative everytime someone posts something good about JDM.
Just try to realize when you are knocking JDM you are knocking all the dedicated JDM team members. This is how I feel anyway and I am sure Jim doesn't treat me good just because you may think that I have money, I am a regular guy that has debt and pays my bills. No different than you in that matter I'm sure. When I buy something for my truck I have to save up for it or work a lot of overtime to get the bill payed off as quick as I can.
So lets try to let the crap that you and Jim have had with each other and get back to that positive guy that I looked up to last year, I mean you use to have some really good things to post about and I looked forward to reading your posts. Now, when I see that you have posted something I have a good feeling it is to take a stab at JDM.
Spiro, just think about it, I don't know everything that you and Jim went through and I don't want to know, Nor do I want to change your opinion on JDM. But if you can, and I'm sure it will be hard for you, try to become that positive guy I once looked forward to talking with.

There were some who questioned if his engine was stock internaly before he went to Texas. Then he went there and blew the motor and all the stock parts fell out the holes in the block.

If he blew his motor running just into the 11's, he was makeing some power. Now with a new motor and running deep mid 11's, there is a considerable more amount of power being made. I think that if it truely is a full Ford spec motor, that motor would have thrown another rod. Either that or the motor as is with out being messed with, will blow a rod with in less than 30 full 1/4 passes.
On the second motor we have blown, it took a good 50-75 passes for the rod to let loose. Last time we dyno'd befor putting the nitrous up to the 125 shot, we were putting ~480HP to the wheels. But we are currently building our own short block with a few new tricks here and there...
I personally think it would be stupid to not have put a built motor into the truck, so you can run fast and worry less about another rod letting loose. He also claims to have alot of the Ford Raceing development stuff just laying around the shop. What keeps him from trying the stuff that works?
Again, this is all my opinions. If you like to flame me for it, please send me an e-mail and take it off line.
Thanks,
Tommy

Why do the threads always turn this way when someone dredges up ancient history ? These issues have been covered OVER and OVER, all the tuners are making thier customers go REALLY fast. I have been around long enough to know that they all ( just like me ) have warts and blemishes...
So pick a tuner and try em out... The GOOD news is if you find one you dont like you have other options...
Pay with a good credit card and demand customer service.... If you dont get the service you expect CALL THE TUNER and try to work it out... If that doesnt work Call your CC company.
Nothing wrong with sharing your experiences with us both good and bad, but at some point we all need to MOVE ON...
Both for your mental health and for the health of this forum.
Please dont make me close this one...

I was there at Ennis too when Jim's motor blew. As a matter of fact I was sitting with Julie and Stephanie. The were pissed when that happened. After he got his truck back to his campsite everyone looked at it. There were a lot of holes in the block.
Anyways he was talking about introducing Manley rods to another motor. I believe he has aftermarket rods and pistons along with ARP head bolts because of boost. Those stock head bolts will stretch with enough boost.
Also, he sells what he installs and he does sell Manley rods and Federal Mogul pistons.

Doug,
I for one am glad you chose not to close this thread,(yet) I hope this thread does turn around and people can get along with each other.
I do apologize for the negitive things that I have said, depending on how you look at it, in this post but I really would like everyone to get past what has happened in the past and make this forum a great place to go and share and gain more knowledge about these trucks.
I stopped posting for a while or at least not as often because of the negative posts that are made every now and then. I do enjoy this forum and wish to keep participating in this forum, so I also hope that people can move on and be happy.

I was just asking a question, and telling you what I heard.
I know he planning to build a motor for himself this winter. However he has been to busy building motors for crazy dudes like me. Opps I let it out of the bag. (I was there Sunday dropping off my truck to get new pistons and rods)
Jim told me he is still running stock pistons and rods, and I have no reason to doubt him.

Well said Sal. Makes us all wonder, what's up???? It's funny that the other tuners and their customers run close to the same times, yet JDM blow's away his own customers. Come on'
I have seen people post lies on here and get caught in it, then they try to convince everyone it never happened when they get called on it. Some people just hear and believe what they want, they wouldn't believe the truth if it was staring them in the face. Do a search for yourself...
Team JDM, JDM is a good tuner and A lot of you guys are good guys.. But do you need every part or mod he tells you you need??? You just keep giving JDM all your money, and the other tuners trucks are just faster with less money. It seems pretty simple to me what's up.. ...
OK Don & Bill, sock it to me...
Is it possible to steer this thread back towards the light ??
Lets be clear.... PSP and JDM have BOTH invested BIG $$ in thier trucks... I dont think either has or will divulge every detail that some folks are looking for.
Lets drop it..

Bill,
As for you..I could care less as well. The only reason you get your special service from JDM is mainly becasue you have Money to throw around. And to some.... they would do anything to keep you happy.
Spiro, take a break and give some slack. It doesn't matter if someone spends money to get what they want, or takes 6 hours on a CNC lathe turning a nice pulley for themselves. The bottom line is results and, unfortunately (or fortunately), that's the way it is in life. Should it be anyother way? Maybe you want to visit Afghanistan?
