You don't want Ford to replace it. Go buy some after market speaks. The sound difference is incredible. Ford factory speakers are total crap. I have Infinity Kappa 5x7's front (direct botl in), and JBL 6x9's rear (had to drill mounting holes). Sounds good. Very little $$.

Should be covered under warranty with no issues. If they ask if you had the volume cranked follow these 3 simple steps,
1) Act surpised- "I have no idea why that would happen."
2) Show concern- "I can't believe that would happen on such a new truck. Please make it right."
3) Deny, deny, deny- "I was like that when I picked up the truck. I don't even listen to the radio, so it couldn't have been my fault."

Seriously though, it'll be covered.

Silver-Bolt's suggestion is going in the right direction.

Try the Polk DX7's ($130+- Pair).
You'll be throwing away the stock speakers just like everybody else.

I wouldn't give the dealer a chance to damage the truck. They'll probably send it off-site to a stereo shop anyway.

Ditto on what these guys said. The stock speakers are junk. I got 4 Infinity Kappa 5x7's and am very pleased. Very easy to install as well.

If the dealer asks if you had the volume cranked up, don't say..

"what? huh?"

Even if you had the volume cranked up, It doesn't matter!

Your stereo's stock, you can blow up every speaker and they have to replace it.

Thats like saying you bring your bone stock L in because you blew a head gasket and you tell them you where blasting down the highway at WOT and then it blew, and then they tell you they can't warrenty it because you where beatin on it. I Don't think so.

Either way, the stock system sucks! Ditch it and get some Kicker 5x7's for the best speakers that will directly fit in there. They come with a crossover, sepearte tweeter and mid range woofer, tweeter is mounted on a swivel for directional sound and there LOUD! pretty good price's around the web and shops now also.

Killa's right. You can have the volume up all the way if you want. (I don't know why anybody would tho...) Now if you had added an amp, that would be different. They'll replace them. If you don't wanna go that route, another choice is the Cerwin Vega SS2683s ~$80 pr.

Aftermarket speakers IS the way to go, www.crutchfield.com is a good place to start. You might be ahead if you stop by your Ford dealer and pick-up a bag of pins for the rear panels, they seem to get fu@*ed up removing them The part # is F65Z-15310A00-AD

speaker selection, front speakers only, head unit problem

Just a thought based on too many years experience. Your audio system will only sound as good as your speakers, so replace your speakers first. Your own ears are the best judge of what sounds good.

I have adjusted the fader control to only power the front speakers, (resulting in clearer sound). I plan to replace the front speakers only with either Pioneer, Polk, Sony or ???, and still have the fade control set to power the front speakers, plenty fine for me, I don't want to drown out the sound of the exhaust.

Anyway while we are on the subject of low end stock audio equipment, does anyone else have stock head unit put out more power to the right channel than the left (yes the balance was in the middle)? I have adjusted the balance to halfway across to the left channel to get balanced sound. I will try to get the head unit replaced under warranty next time the L see's the dealership.

Just take out your stereo and speakers less weight to truck and it will go faster!! All you need to hear is the S/C anyway while your strumming down the road!!

I agree too. Replace them with aftermarket's. I have Polk DX-7's all the way around and they are WAY better than stock, even with the stock head unit.

I installed Kicker 6.5" Resolution components in the front and are excellent. Run about $350 per pair and are easy to install. I located the tweeter at the top of the kick panel.
