FWIW I have a Bulldog Deluxe 62 I installed about a year ago (no one touches my cars but me). It has worked great for me and has excelent range. It has a lot of options, including high and low temp start, battery low voltage start, tach signal and many others.

It is great being parked next to some guy who tries to show off his remote door locks on his new Lexus, then I start my lifted 80's 4x4

 

Well, I have a question......Has anyone heard of one called "Cobra"? They sell them at my local Sams club, and seam to sell extremely well. Are they any good? Is it very hard to do yourself? I like to do as much as poss. myself if I can. It does come with a video.

HuskerF150 I read this post and took your suggestion on which brands of remote starts are the best. I had the Viper 150 installed and would like to ask a few questions. 1st my truck does not have the security key so I didn't need any extra parts for the install.

1) My truck has the autolock feature turned on (meaning when u start the truck and put it in gear the door locks will lock) and everytime now I start the truck and get out of it, the door locks will autolock (easy to get locked out). So I have tried turning off the autolock feature and it won't turn off. Could their be something in the remote start box keeping it turned on.

2) When I get out of the truck and press the lock button on the door and then later try using the unlook button on the remote the alarm goes off. But if I lock the door with the remote and unlock the door with the remote everything is ok. My kid love to press the door locks (hehe).

3) I have the 5.4 engine and when I press the remote start feature on the remote the engine turns couple of times then stops and waits about 30 seconds then it starts. Then installer said this was normal because I don't have a single coil. My engine has coil over each spark plug. Is this true that it takes the engine 2 times to actual start?

4) I have a friend that had Ziebart install a remote start on his truck. We park next to each other and went inside our building (4th floor building) and walk over to the window and he could start his everytime and I have yet made my lights blink. Even outside his range seems to be twice as far as mine.

I have taken it back to dealer 3 times now and they keep saying I nothing wrong. They said as far as doors locking all the time its Fords problem. Can I just unplug the cables going to the remote start box and try to set the autolock feature. Something is keeping it turned on. Sure wish I could start my truck from inside my office, this is the only reason I bought it.
