Stereo install ? (anybody and Brian K)

I know many people have changed and customized their stereo in the L. I have a question for anybody with an Equalizer or 1/2 DIN opening above the headunit. Which installation kit did you use? Also, Brian K (if you are out there) I just received the cap monitor and I know that you had/have it installed in the metra 99-5802 kit. I have the same but it won't fit. Did you have to cut that "CD Pocket" off? Any help, pics, or model #'s would be appreciated.

Kevin

I can't verify the number since I threw the packaging away, but I used a metra kit, and it had the <useless> cd pocket above the head unit and it fit fine.

Circuit City should have the installation kit for about $15.00. That's where I got mine from. They also got the wiring harnesses which make installs very easy.

you can get the dash kit from your local stereo shop, walmart, raido shack, ect... the metra kit is the best imho..

the 1/2 din pocket is a joke.. every time i'd hammer the gas, whatever i put in the pocket would fly out and smash against the back glass.. hehe
so, i had the billet plate made to cover it up.

Kevin,

Whats up??

I had to dremel off the 1/2 din pocket then dremel down the voltage monitor. I actually cut about 2/3 of the body of the monitor off. In the instructions it tells you how much you can remove without problems. Thats what I went by. There just isn't enough clearance in the top area to fit the voltmeter in there without cutting it. Don't worry as the unit will still stay in place after cutting...........

I will see if I still have pics. I dunno as I had a computer crash in the last year and lost everything....Ahhhhhh....

later
