Question Trans Am???

OK guys, i need all the advice and replys i can get. My cousin has a 98' Trans-Am, automatic with flowmasters, the Whisper lid and Hypertech tuning. he also has the shift improvement kit on it. he wants to race my 01' Stock Lightning with just an accumulator valve. The stakes are high so that's why i'm stalling. He will give half a car length to start. Can i take him or not.

Cool

Give me some numbers, like wt and Hp of the car and truck. I'll do the math and let you know. BTW how much is the bet?

That sure would be a good race considering both drivers get perfect launches. Find out what gears he has? The best optional gear for the automatic is a 3.23 gear.

But I would give the nod to the T/A.

just race him in the 1/8 mile

I believe he has 2.73 gears or whatever is stock, but the bet is $5,000, which would really help mod up my Lightning if i won.

$5000

If you already have $5000 to loose on this bet then why not spend it on mods first, then race the T/A?

If he approached you with the $5,000 offer, then I say you decline.

Anyone that confident is dangerous. That is just way to much money to be betting with for a race.

I would go put th 5K in to the truck (not tell him) then race him (I mean, beat him) and take his 5K and its like you never spent yours

The fastest stock 01 reported i've seen is 13.2 and the T/A go 13.90's or around there totally stock.

But if your Pills are that Large have fun!

any one that will bet 5 G's is running some serious numbers out of their car, and he will hand you your *** when you hand him the cash.
be smart 5 g's in mods will put your truck in Viper range!!!!!!

Why would you run your cousin for $5k? Most 01's run 13.6's to 13.9's You may get creamed by a 98 even if it was stock. My X had a stock 98 auto that ran 13.30's all day long. I had a 99 ss that went 13.0's stock. Your choice. But if he really wants to run just tell him to let you go first. Dont blow your tires away, and you MAY be safe. But to 13 sec cars running for 5k? Sounds funny to me. I use to run my 10 sec stang for no less that $2k but still.....

In the real world of "Street Racing" ..... when that kinda money comes to the table, its "Run what you brung", your opponent often has more inside then they led you to believe. You really don't know what he has, who cares what he says, what about who has beat, you need to see him first hand. He could have NO2, major internal engine work, heads, etc.

If you feel like giving 5k away go ahead, but with the mods you listed, I would just sit this one out. Go build yourself a "sleeper" if you want to take 5k home with you from a "Street Race"

Besides, what kind of "Cousin" is that, 5k, he/she is going shark you for 5k.
