West Coast Tuners

Hey everyone,
I wanted to know if anyone knows of any west coast lightning tuners. the three big ones are on the east coast. i can live with waiting/paying for shipping, but it would be nice to check out the stuff before i buy it. it would also be cool to drive over to tuner real quick if i had a problem or needed a reburn or somehitng. it would also be nice to have an installer who specializes in lightnings.
anyone know of any?

thanks
joe

I have no dealings with him but you can give him a look. I did drop him email and he responded within 24 hours http://www.swansonperformance.com/index2.html

I've talked with numerous California Lightning owners that use Danny Swanson's chip. It's tuned for California gas but you'll still have to pay shipping unless you want to drive to Southern California to his shop. Driving down 101 is not as boring as I5. SLO is a good stop to relax and eat and is almost 1/2 way.

Danny Swanson has done a good job for me since I first started modifying my L. He has a good 91 octane tune up, and set mine up for a 2 lb. pulley. Since we are on winter gas, it's leaned out a little, and is detonating at the middle RPM range. He will be re calibrating my chip for the winter gas this Friday morning.

Question

Any of you guys (JL, Sal, Jim) coming out to CA sometime in the near future?? I'm sure you could get plenty of L's lined up for custom tunes.

Dannys shop is on Normandie 22414 S.
(310)787-7800 If you live in Ca and run on 91 I feel you really need a tuner who drives his truck every day on 91 as well.

I have to admit that I agree with your logic. I've run several 'east coast' tuners programs, but I always seem to have issues with detonation. Great tuners, but they're fortunate that they don't have to live with the crappy CA gas.

Well I have two chips from different tuners back east, and both are set for 91 octane. I've had detonation problems with both, after reburns. I'm sure they can come up with something that works, but you may have to send the chip back several times to get it right. In hindsight I would have gotten a custom dynotune from day one.

I still like both of them, but detonation is deadly...

if i were having detonation problems, could i just put in a bottle of octane boost in every tank of gas to clear up the probelm? i know it maybe pricey and may get annoying but i would prbably get better performance+no detontaion. besides, isnt a bottle of octane boost only like 4 bucks.

this is only if i have problems though, which i wonlnt know till i get a chip

later
