? on rotor coating flaking/intercooler recall
I know alot of the blowers have the rotor coating flaking off. I just received my intercooler recall and what I am wondering is, does the dealer automatically replace the blower if the rotor coating is flaking? Other than the one recent post by MRBBQMAN having his blower replaced, I have not seen anyone else post this type of info. Has anyone else had the same thing happen? Obviously there has not been a recall for this and I'm wondering if this is a situation where it is up to the individual dealers descretion. My thought is pull my blower off, see if blade coating is flaking, if not, reinstall, keep driving, don't do intercooler recall yet. Or if rotor coating is flaking reinstall blower, have intercooler done and force the issue of the flaking with the dealer at the time.
If blower does get replaced, is it with an 01 unit, requiring the new intake assembly? Nah, that would be wishfull thinking, I'm sure Ford has plenty of 99/00 blower assemblies sitting on the shelf.

Peter, I think it depends on the idividuals invovled with your truck. Some dealers might see that and say "hey, the coating is coming off, lets get this guy a new blower". Other dealers will call the tech hotline where they will be told it's normal and don't change it. When I replaced my intercooler on my 99, I tried to get a new blower (I was the tech at the time working on my own truck), and couldn't get Ford to say yes. If you get lucky and they change it, it will not be an 01 unit, and that would require the lower intake to be replaced as well due to the different bolt pattern. Hope this helps.
