PSP Line Lock??
PSP Line Lock??
I just picked up the jan. 2002 issue of 5.0 mustang. was browsing around and came across a PSP add on page 64. it lists a bunch of products psp sells. but what caught my eye was PSP Gen2 Line Lock Kit. To tell you truth im not really sure what a Line Lock is, i know it has something to do with locking the wheels before you laucnh or something
, but i didnt think PSP sold them. i didnt even know that they had them for the lightnings. could this be a missprint or something or is there really a kit. i looked on psps site but didnt find it. could someone also explain what a line lock is?
thanks
joe

ill post a pick of the ad as soon as i find my camera

Umm' jeez, i didn't think their were line locks for our trucks, maybe ill look into buyin one to heat up those ET Streets a lot easier. All i know is, that the line lock messes with the brakes and the brake fluid. Im not sure if it cuts off fluid tothe back brakes, and allows fluid to the front, or what. Then, i know u press a button, arm it, hold the button down, do the biggest burnout you've ever done, then release the button.
To my knowledge there are only two lightnings with line lock on them to date. Those would be Jerry Green and Myself. The line lock works great and will in time save your trans from failing. When doing a burnout it was found that it puts alot of strain on the front pumps of these trans's. Pauls High Perfomance is the only one, "unless Sal finally figuered out how to make it work" that can do the installation.
OK HOLD ON, I didn't mean it in any way to put Sal down. I just talked to Sal two weeks ago about if he was able to get it to work and he said he was working on it. Now not putting Sal down in any way, why would one advertise it if he doesn't have it???? Once again this is not to put down Sal just a question that maybe he could answer. This i why I try to keep out of most posts BUT I do have Line lock on my truck so I thought I'd respond.
Brandon, I've had the line lock for over 2 years. We did the prototype kit on our 99 and it's now on our 01. We did intend to have a complete kit available a long time ago, but I have no been able to get in touch with the only company that could make the special fitting required to bolt to the ABS module. I have the one prototype on my truck.
HI!... Can someone post some explicit pics of their LINE LOCK installation. I have a brand new HURST line lock kit in the garage and would like to install it. I know how to install it on a non ABS vehicle with no problems, but don't have a clue on how to install it in conjunction with the ABS computer. Thanks.

Go to LS1.com and do a search for line locks. There are very detailed instructions on how to install them. The insturctions will be for an F-body, but im almost positive its the same for all cars.
im still not clear on what a line lock really is. does it only lock up the front wheels during a burnout or something? someone please help. also, you do not sell them sal? do you think you ever will sell them?

It's really not that hard to install your own if you don't mind cutting your original brake lines (Making sure you can get factory replacements first) since it's hard if not impossible to find aftermarket brake line to fit he ABS contoller. You will have to use two line-locks down stream of the ABS controller.
1. Cut the factory brake line where you will be mounting the line lock.
2. Slide the correct fitting for the line-lock onto the break line and reflare using a double flaring tool.
3. Connect this to the line-lock (after line-locks have been mounted)
4. Buy enough break line to go from the line-lock to the caliper and the correct fittings for both.
5. Run the new break line from the line-lock to the caliper routing it as close as possible to the route of the original route.
6. Slide on fittings, flare ends and install.
7. Bleed brakes.
This should be done for both front wheels.
This is what I did on my Cobra and it worked great. I wired the line locks to a toggle switch so I could engage for my burn out.
There may be othere ways to do it, but it worked for me.

ASVTBOY, acutally, there is no need to go after the ABS. It works fine right off the master, and doens't screw the ABS up at all. We've run ours like that on both our 99 and 01. It's just that that stock brake line is stainless and a real BIATCH to cut and flare to tap into. That's why we are trying to doa bolt in kit with new lines.
