Exaust tip help

Ok I know this is an easy one :) but I did not want to start pounding with a hammer till after I asked.

I am trying to remove the factory tips and wondered if there was some trick to it. I removed the 4 nuts and loosened the clamps.

I can wiggle the tips a little but they will not slide off. I was wondering if there was some kind of tab or other doohicky! that I need to loosen to remove them or was I lucky to get one that was over tightened at the factory and now has a dent in it so it will be a real BITCH to get off :(.

I spent 20 minutes shaking tugging and twisting on the things and was digging out the 5 lb influener to tap it off with but wanted to ask :) heheh

Oh ya I did search but the 2 posts it returned did not help me out in the least

Thanks agian for your time

Unhappy Removing tips

socallightning,

Take a big hammer...... really they are a pain to remove. I removed mine and put on BaBolt's tips and might add they look wonderful.

My stock tips after removing the U-bolt seemed loose and I pulled on them shooked the hell out of them and still didn't come off. So.... I took my big hammer a big bladed screwdriver and started tapping the edge a little at a time till they came off.

Since I was replacing them I wasn't worried about screwing the old ones up. I might add I didn't screw them up.

The new tips were easy to put on and as I said above they look wonderful.

Are you replacing the old ones with something?

Good luck!!!

You can cut or break the weld that is on the top side of the exhaust tip to pipe interface just behind the U-bolt .
