Smile True numbers

From what I have heard keep it in third for the most accurate numbers.
I have never done it either so if anyone can add any insight feel free.

Put it in "D" and lock out overdrive. Run it up to about 3000RPM in 3rd and make the pull.

What Lightning Boy said---don't want it down-shifting--so start at whatever rpm that won't cause your L(may be 'chip' dependent) to d/shift and then press the throttle down smoothly until around 5,500- 5,700 rpm and then gently back off of the throttle. Be prepared(I wasn't) for the sound of an enraged mountain lion(you're inside, hood open, windows down)--I thought I had broken something as this was my first ever dyno.

I was reading this the other day, so I'll ask now. What does OD lockout do and how does it work??? Is it as simple as pressing the OD button on the shifter???????? Never had an OD lockout before, always a 5 spd.

Yep,

slapshot, just press the button 'in' on the end of the shift lever. Also the best way(according to JL) to 1/4 mile our Ls--od 'off'.

My stock 2001 L dynoed at 355+. The other consideration for your dyno pull is engine temp. If you want to make the most rwhp let the thing cool completely. Bring the temp up to 140 and make the pull.

Heat really makes a difference. Its like hotlapping the truck at a strip.

Thumbs up Lightning dyno

Clonetec: Cool video man. Damn loud too. First Lighting I've seen dynoed. Woke the girlfriend. She thought it was a firetruck outside the house, LOL. Gotta love that S/C whine. Forgot the speakers were cranked on the computer. She went back into the room and started muttering something about damn boys and their toys. Hopefully this doesn't mean I'm in the doghouse, AGAIN.
