I am a rookie to all of this, but what exactly is the difference (in hp, 0-60, 1/4mile, etc.) between the 2000 L and the 2001? Sorry if this has been posted before, just a question.

Why didn't you wait and get an '02

 

The price difference was huge. I know that I should have waited, but I don't have tons of money so for me this is the best deal.

 

Ya...You can get good deals on the 2001's...if you aren't keen on getting Blue or dont care about the keypad or just the mere fact of the year....Yes, you can definetely get much better deals on the 2001's and there aint much difference...

 

So what is the difference in speed from the 2000 and 2001/02? Tons, or just a little?

I have a 2000 L. From hanging on this board , i've gathered the following information. Lightning Board vulchers feel free to correct this if I am wrong.

The 2001's (stock) are a bit quicker from the factory than the 2000's. Based on variable track locations and conditions, your looking at maybe a 2 tenths of a second difference in the 1/4 of average, which will depend on the driver too.

The 2001's have a 3.73 gearing in the rear, from a 3.53 in a 2000. The 01' have an aluminum drive shaft stock. The 01' have the new lower intake/intercooler, and 90mm MAF. Th 00's had an 80mm. The F1's on the 2001's were using a different compound than on the 00's. All this equals a factory 0-60 posted time of 6.2 on the 00's, and 5.8 on the 01's.

Of course all this info is great, but once you get the mod bug, you can throw it all out the window and your in a whole new world. Fortunately for me, my bug is still in the incubation process an hasn't made full blown disease yet!!

 

Add ofcouse drivers can make one Lightning faster than the other one with his/her skill. If the keypad and locking lugnuts mean that much to you, do what I did, add them to my 01

 

What's this keypad you guys are speaking of? Is it something new for the '02's? I just got a '01 a few months back. Curious about the differences between the '01's & '02's. Just want to know what I'm missing. Thanx.

 

The keypad is the entry pad in the drivers door handle and as stated they come with wheel locks, and blue that's it. The Harley is getting the L motor too The differences in 00-01 are many both cosmetic and mechanical. Yes the 01 is faster mainly the 3:73's, 90mm MAF, and the factory leaned the program more than 00 and 99 trucks half way between stock and what the chips do. I like the cosmetic changes like the pseudo billet grill, clear lights are bad *** not standard F150 issue stuff, bad as$ cargo lamp. No intercooler recalls though we had a seatbelt recall to deal with 01's stand out more on the street

swapping the lights from the 2000 to the 2001 is kinda a gimme, i'm still working on it though!!

 

Most of the Silver trucks are really fast.... In fact TOTALTED has the fastest (11.69)Non-Nitrous Lightning !!! And its a Silver 01.....

But Sal the man has the fastest (11.20) Lightning !!!! its a red 01!!!!

Both of these trucks have recorded proff of there times!!!

The 02's will not be any different than the 01's as far as speed.

The 99 & 00's have alittle less power due to the Gears & MAF. Plus you get aittle better looking head & tailights with the 01 or 02's!!!
