List of dealers that honor eaa x-plan?
List of dealers that honor eaa x-plan?
Most of the dealers in my area are jerks, and I have the feeling that I might have to travel to get x-plan. Can you guys that have used xplan, post what dealer/salesperson/whoever you had to talk to at that dealer to get them to honor it? Then we can have a list of good contacts to get x-plan.
Thanks

Ernie Haire and Brandon Ford both do X-plan. Bought my daughter a 2002 Mustang GT at Brandon Ford for X-plan. They gave me the X-plan price but never asked for my Pin number. Oh well. Still got the number.
Put my buddy on to the EAA X-plan deal and he ordered a 2002 Mustang GT convertible. He got it 2 weeks ago from Ernie Haire.
Don't know if they X-plan for SVT products or not.

Yo TruBlu02:
I talked with Vance Elswick at Treadwell Ford in Mobile, AL. He has a blue 02 coming in around dec 17 he said. I forgot to ask him if it wsa taken. Anyway he said that he'll do x-plan. Might want to give him a shout out. Tell Vance that Michael Sessions told you to give him a call.

TruBlu02,
Good luck w/ the x-plan. My local SVT dealers over the phone all said they would take x-plan on L's. Different story when it came time to sit down and do business. I eventually found a dealership out of state that took x-plan.
Good Luck

I am hoping to purchase a Lightning in June 02. Already have the EAA X plan PIN#. The trick is to find someone who will accept X plan on an L.
Plan A: Call around or visit the SVT dealers in MN and ask for X Plan pricing.
Odds on Plan A: 50%-50% I have found a dealer who says that they do and will do X Plan on a Lightning in June. But, knowing the whims and GREED of dealers with new merchandise on their lots, I take this with a very large grain of salt.
Plan B: 80%-20% I called an "auto broker" in the Twin Cities and told him what I wanted and told him he'd have to match or beat X Plan or forget it. He said he could get me X Plan (if I had a PIN), and that his fee would be included in the X Plan price. Sounds good to me, so we'll see on this one.
Plan C: 90%-10% A Ford dealer in Kansas City who does not sell SVTs (my son bought his truck from him), promised me (in person) that one of his salesman friends at an SVT dealership WILL sell to me at X Plan (he made the phone call to him while I was sitting in his office).
So, if I were you, I'd try the auto broker strategy and see how that would work for you.
Good Luck!

I bought a 1973 Gran Torino from them in 73. Great car, red, black vinyl roof, laser stripe down the side, 351, loaded $4200 out the door. Sorry to say, it met its demise by center punching a light pole on Bayshore Blvd. Something like 160 ft of skid marks
And TECO made me pay for the light pole
Gator whats up, sorry to hear that?

x-plan and Canada
Just got my PIN number for x-plan via EAA membership.
Before joining EAA I called x-plan headquarter's who indicated the 02 L is now eligible for x-plan (in Canada)-no SVT products apparently were eligible in 2001.
Now waiting for a dealer to get an 02L and one that will accept x-plan

How do u become a member for this EAA X-plan??? Still have no Idea what the hell everyone is talking about, but if somebody can tell me before I spend more $$$$ into my L I will greatly appreciate it. I will even go out of state and tow it home if thats the case.
Thanks

My best semi-informed explanation of what X-Plan is is this:
X-Plan is the word for the lower level of special pricing that Ford gives to certain people or groups. A-Plan, which you may also have heard of, is a step above (read 4% less than) X-Plan, and is typically reserved I believe for Ford Employees. EAA that you were talking about, which I believe stands for the Experimental Aviation Association or something like that, is actually not related to X-Plan, other than the fact that EAA is one of the groups eligible to receive the X-Plan special pricing. A relevant example of the power of X-Plan is that you can get a "new" 2001 Lightning for just under $29k...which normally retails for upwards of $32k. Now, I bought my 2000 L new for $27,500...but that was just before winter last year after the truck had sat on a lot for upwards of 6 months. With X-Plan and a cooperative dealer, you can use the pricing on the soon-to-be/just was released 2002 Lightning the day it hits the lot, and still save $3000. This, combined with Ford Credit's special financing offers, makes this a pretty unbeatable deal. The reason you keep hearing EAA thrown around here is that someone clued us in to the fact that for a $40 membership to EAA, you could save $3000 off of a Ford vehicle (pretty easy math, huh?!)...regardless of if you like aviation or not. (Analogous to a loophole in the law...)
HOWEVER, before you go searching to join, word on the street is that EAA just somehow caught on to what was going on and instituted a "1-year waiting period" before new members coluld receive their X-Plan Pin # (as of November 30th I believe). I luckily caught wind of previous posts and joined ON November 30th, so we'll see if I made it.
I hate to say you're out of luck, but it might be that way. There are probably other groups with similar benefits, but now its probably gonna be a while before someone finds one and is willing to divulge their secret. I guess if you're one of those people that thinks long term and doesn't mind waiting, you could still join and use your X-Plan next year to buy the highly rumored 2003 Lightning...but I'm not that patient.
And that concludes today's lesson.
