Andy,

I have had absolutely no problems with my L. I have 18,000 miles on her and at least 100 trips down the 1/4 mile!!!

On thing I do have is a hard shifting tranny. That is from the chip. I need to get the line pressures dropped a little because I added the line mod valve!!

I say go for it!!!! You will never regret it!!!

I think you'll find that most of us who keep our L's stock have little to no problems at all. Its the way cool trucks in the 11 and 12 second 1/4 mile clubs that blow transmissions,,, while racing that is I've got nothing against putting any sort of mod in this truck, in fact, i'll probably end up putting way more cash then i ever imagined i would into it, i guess all i'm saying is that i dont think i've read one post from a stock L about any sort of major problem at all. and as everyone wil say, mods are cool as long as you know what your doing

Yeah, Mine is pretty much stock, except for a few goodies!!!

If you drive it like you stole it, then plan on having a lot of problems!!

Mods have nothing to do with it, if they are done right!!!

20000 miles and never seen the inside of the Ford garage. Got 2 recalls but still havn't taken it in yet. Can't say for sure but BABolt's suggestion of a 50/50 mix of Water Wetter may have saved the I/C but who knows. I did fix a few things myself. Buy the dam thing!

The only problems i've had is the famous intercooler leak, i've had a short in my dash cluster that kept causing a fuse to blow, and the little handle on the rear sliding window came off when the weather used to be hot here. Other than that, i really havent had any problems with it *knock on wood*

But then again, i think i'm the only one on this site without a chip and many other mods...

A trip to my dealership recently scared me when there was a silver lightning sitting there with a blown engine. The tech there said that the engine needed to be replaced from a problem a chip caused. He didnt go into details, but he did say it was gonna cost the poor customer close to $10,000.

I've only had one problem with the truck. It seems to be persistent problem, that I can't get rid of. The truck seems to be bleeding my bank account dry.

Find that customer and tell him I can do the job for $8000.

I have almost 15,000 miles. I have had driving lights replaced under warranty because of cracking. I installed Herbs washers & got a good frontend alignment. I don't consider these problems. Oh, I have a rattle from the sunglass holder door. whoopie. LOL

I had to learn Steve Kinser driving style when jumping on the throttle.

I have 30,000 on my 2000 Lightning and so far here is what has happened:

1. Leaky intercooler
2. warped rotor
3. drivers seat replaced 3 times
4. new cd changer
5. new in dash cd player
6. lower blower pulley cage broke, this was the factory one
7. broke 2nd gear in tranny, replaced all thing
8 ac vent switch, lol

I have only a pro-m maf and now a JDM lower blower pulley, but all these happened before any of these were added
