I think I single handedly keep the city of Aurora in business. I have a lawyer on retainer (as per the advice of several members of this board) I have to fight this one. I don't have any more points left, and I was only doing 46 (in a 40).
Was coming down Tower Rd which is a 6 lane north to south road in east Aurora. It had snowed hard for 2 days and the roads were wet, I was the only one on the road. I know I was only doing 46 because I was coming up on a Diamond Shamrock gas station on the right and looked down to see if I needed to stop for gas. When I looked back up a police officer was walking out into the middle of my lane. So I pull into the gas station and the cop comes to the window and says I was doing 61. WTF. I started to argue and he walked away. I now have a 2by2.net tag on my truck. I represent the company my brother and I now work for so I have made serious efforts to try and behave so this was kind of a surprise to me. So, I get to my brothers house. Come to find out the same officer got not only him, but his roommate too for 61 in a 40. My baby brother has a mineral gray 2001 Mustang, his roommate has a white WS6. It sucks because 61 in a 40 is a 6 point ticket. 60 in a 40 is a 4 point. It doesn't matter. I don't have any points left to lose. I have to fight it. But, this is the part that confuses me still...think about how wet the roads were, if you were a cop, and the roads were wet, and you saw a bigass truck (supposedly) doing 61 MPH coming down the road...would you step out in front of it? Anyway, even though it's been a very hard year, I still have intentions of moving to AZ. I can't wait to get out of Colorado. Does AZ work on a points system?

If I read it right you were doing 46 by your speed om right? and he said you were doing 61?? Not to sound negative but if you have had prior issues you better do good research and get a lawyer, cause usually the cops word is that last word!!
He didn't say I was doing 46, he said I was doing 61...which is what he also said my Brother and his roommate and who kows how many other people were doing. It just seems strangely coincidental that we were all doing 61...Anyway, I was on my way to my brothers and then taking the truck to the dealership. So I had Sean check the speedo, but he said it's good to the foot. So...who knows what is going to happen. It's at the point where I don't even want to drive anymore, I might not have to worry about that though, they might just take my license (again)

It sounds like the cop wasnt even in his car. Might be a good point to bring up. Also, I dont want to sound like a *****, but you might want to file the complaint by yourself (you might be tempted to bring in your brother and roommate as support, but maybe its not a good idea) because if the cop has 1 out of 3-4 people that he ticketed challenge it, he might not even show, but if 3-4 people bitch about it, then he HAS to show up. Then, if you were doing 46, you were still speeding... Just say you were going exactly 40
Maybe you can all challenge it on different dates?
Good luck. I have cop friends, so I have nothing against ALL of them, but there are definatly some ****** out there.

If you tell a judge "well I was only going 46", you just admitted to speeding and then Dem boots were made for walkin'.
Good luck, you past will not help. Ever thought about investing in a radar detector or is it not legal in CO?

Having grown up in Colorado and lived in the Denver area for 8 years or so I can tell you it is the ticketest giving damn state I've ever lived in!!!
Every municipality around Denver seems to base their budget on the amount of motorist ticketed each year. I had more speeding tickets around Denver in 1 year than I got in Virginia in 7 years. And I drive a HELL of a lot faster in Virginia. Once a cop in Federal Heights gave me a damn ticket for 4 mph over!!! I was fuming! It was even on a street that had a severe downhill slope. Had to raise money for a stapler or something I guess.
Bottom line - You live to drive fast? Stay away from the Denver area.

*repeating to myself* I was only doing 40 I was only doing 40
It's my own fault for driving the way I do in the past and leading to the point where I don't have any points. But I have tried very hard to behave the last few months and I have settled down a lot. I guess (and I am not trying to justify speeding or anything) but it just doesn't seem fair that there are people who can have 1 accident a year for 7 years (like my baby brother) and keep their license and I can have one accident 9 years ago that wasn't my fault and not even a ding in a parking lot since and they can take my license. *sadness*

Cops do like our trucks. I live on a semi busy street . Pulled out of my driveway and got pulled over for speeding. I am not kidding. I was no more then 200 yards (yes yards) from my house. He let me go with a warning and basically said he will be keeping his eye out. I am 35 yrs. old with 0 points and I had to bite my toungue and THANK him for not giving me a ticket. I did hit the gas out of the driveway to get going, but it wasn't like I was at the track.
These trucks are cop magnets...its even worse for me because I'm 23..and I still look 18(which is good, I will age gracefully, haha). If I dont get tailed by a cop once a day its a miracle. Only one ticket so far, in Ohio. Said I was doing 78 in a 65. Yet he CONVIENTLY picked my vehicle out of the flow of traffic with a good 5 cars in front and 10 in back.

Ain't deferred adjudication great? I've learned to play the system a little. I was on deferred adjudication for 4 tickets a one time for four different courts.
A lawyer probably would have been cheaper though. But none of them went on my record.
