You don't have any points left. How many tickets have you gotten?

What's this about moving to Arizona because they may not have a point system? Are you implying that you hope to move someplace (Arizona) because you can get numerous tickets without consequences?

Sorry, but it appears that you're guilty from the evidence you presented.

Good Cops and Bad Cops

There are good cops and bad cops. My experience with a bad cop is this: when I was 19, I was racing a friend down a paved county road. I was in the left lane and roughly in his blind spot, when he moved into my lane to cut me off. I was forced off the road and, before I came to a stop, managed to clip a telephone pole (actually broke it in two) and destroy a garage owned by the probate judge of the county. Fortuntely, I was not injured. About 10 minutes later a county deputy showed up. He had me get into his car, and then drove me to a justice of the peace. The deputy, who was buds with the justice, wrote me up for reckless driving, and then gave me a second ticket for speeding the night before, because he said someone saw me "speeding in town." It never happened, of course. All-in-all a quick 8 points. In any case, the "justice" removed me of about $200, which was all the money I had at the time, then the deputy drove me home.

I would have the radar gun brought into question. It might not be functioning properly. Its happened before, my high school english teacher got out of a ticket because the radar detector was about 20 mph off actual mph.

There's enough people out their hauling butt to pick on the people who are doing the speed limit. I've had several people take me to court over not showing them the radar gun. The judge pretty much sits there and asks them if they have any other arguement, if not, are they ready to pay their fine right then.
Here in Fl, we are not required to show radar/laser readings. I do not show them, if they want to fight the ticket, they will go to court. I don't let them argue the ticket on the side of the road, that is what traffic court is for. Is they refuse to sign the ticket, it is easy, to jail they go. I normally use laser, it is much more accurate and the courts rarely ever throw them out here. Not to mention, you know exactly which vehicle you are reading because the crosshairs are directly on it.

Spike,
No, I am not saying I am moving to AZ because they don't have a points system. I was just curious if they had a points system there.

I forgot to touch on that on my original reply. If I check someone's drivers license history and find that they get ticket after ticket, like this case since he is "out of points", that is normally an automatic ticket, no warning, period. I see it as this, tickets are there to REMIND people to obey the traffic laws. Someone who habitually gets tickets is a danger to everyone on the road. If you figure that they only get caught for the infraction a very small percent of the time, think of all of the times they are doing things that endanger you, me, our families, etc, and they DON'T get caught. I don't feel one bit bad after writing someone like that a ticket, I see it as protecting the innocent drivers, and I hope they do jack up thier insurance since they are such a high risk. And God help them if they start running thier mouth and the attitude starts, then the ticket book really flies.
Do I feel that a ticket for 46 in a 40 is a bit unreasonable, yes, but laws are laws, it all comes down to the officers discretion.

Slapshot:

I agree that she is a high risk driver. But I think that the point is that this cop has been consistently handing out tickets for doing "61" miles per hour. If this is true then there is a problem with that officer or he has hit on a run of similar numbers. Maybe he should play the lottery.

I agree there, like I said, it all comes down to the officer's discretion, some of us are better at it than others.
