Ask the judge to get your speedometer calibrated. It will check to see how off your speedo is off from the correct speed. If is is off you can argue the speedo is reading incorrect numbers and you will have to pay to get it fixed and he will throw the case out. That is what my uncle did and he got out of it. But this is in Maryland.

Girl, Girl, Girl, you were only doing 39 , so what does the Gator have to do to get you to admit you were only doing 39

When I asked to see the radar he laughed and said he cleared the clock and it didn't matter because he doesn't have to show me.

I had the truck in the shop...Sean says the speedo is right...

Yes Gator Gator. 39 39 39 39 39 39 39

Once I was doing about 85 down the highway, then I came across another black '99 Ford Lightning. He was cruising at about 70-ish. About 10 seconds later, I see cop lights behind us both and closing in fast. I was already half way past him (he was in my rear blind spot), and he saw the lights, but it was too late by then. I had already stomped on it, and put my blinker on. Who knows? The cop could have been on his way to an accident, especially at that rate of speed.

Shortly after that, the cop blows right on by, doin' about 110 (fast, but hey, I am no expert witness). Right after that he's on the side of the road, he pulled over yet another black truck, but it was just a regular F150. Really cool friend I guess, took one for the team. Next time I see that stranger I think I'll get him a drink.

As far as birthdays go, I am either not driving anything, and whichever car I am in, we are getting doughnuts or something. My friends and I seem to come across those fellows each and every b-day one of us has.

Thats tuff CA, with all the stuff I've done, I've only got 1 ticket and thats a 74/65.

[forgot to add]
If he said you couldnt see his radar for whatever reason because you arent allowed to, thats total BS. I think the term for that is "Obstruction of Justice." The cop that gave me my speeding ticket let me see it, and it read 78mph. Seems to me that you can see it when you are guilty, but not when you are innocent. Good luck.

It may also help that Alaska is truck country, and the cops HATE imports. I have been saved from the 10 point drag racing tickets because I was racing an import, and they chose him.

Hey CA, you DO have the right to see the radar reading as a basis for why the cop pulled you over. Also, at least in Cali., if the gun has not been calibrated within the last 10 days the reading is inadmissable, and you can subpoena the calibration history of the gun he used. I would check your local regulations on this and maybe get a lawyer, if this guy's been pulling over people for doing "61" consistently then there's something fishy.

I hate to sound "dum"...but I'll bite...

I hate to sound dumb but what the heck is deferred adjudication?

It sounds like a bad disease or something. Would someone please explain it to me?

Bill

Deferred Adjudication

It's really just probation. Usually, they give you 90 days. If you don't get another ticket in that 90 days it doesn't go on your record. The cool thing about it is you can still get another ticket in another jurisdiction within 90 days, and if you can get deferred adjudication for that one too then the jurisdiction where you got the first ticket won't know about it becuase it didn't go on your record. And so on, and so on...

CA, up here in Ontario, the police work on a quota system ( have to write so many tickets per month to basically justify their job ). The end of November seems to be pretty coincidental that he was writing a handful of 61mph tickets!?? Is he green or a seasoned cop? Maybe asking the judge to see his log book for November to see the frequency of tickets written. Might stir up the pot a little.

I don't touch anything that isn't atleast 12 over the limit. 6 over is a waste of time for everyone. I have no shortage of people to write for 15-30 over. And , no, I do NOT have a ticket quota. The main reason I write tickets is because I am tired of handling serious injury/fatal accidents caused from people speeding, running red lights/stop signs etc. Driving is the most dangerous thing people do everyday. On duty, I worry MUCH more about being in a crash than being shot.

Here in Ak we're not required to show anyone the gun. Might be different from state to state though. I know most people hate cops, and think not showing the gun is an excuse on our part because we are lying. But personally, I have better things to do than pull people over and give them speeding tickets if they aren't speeding. There's enough people out their hauling butt to pick on the people who are doing the speed limit. I've had several people take me to court over not showing them the radar gun. The judge pretty much sits there and asks them if they have any other arguement, if not, are they ready to pay their fine right then.

i definately dont hate cops,, most of them have helped me out tons even when they were the one's who pulled me over. but one day when i was 16, first car i've had, i really did accidently cross the turn lane a little when i was making a left turn. The wayne county sherif ( maybe not a sherif,, but definately some sort of patrol officer for wayne county) made a U turn to pull me over. I was not speading at the time or anything, and when the cop pulled me over i didn't even complain one bit about anything, i was very nice (nervous of course,, fist time beingi pulled over) didn't even give the officer a bad look. After he brings back my liscense he ends up not even giving me a warning,,, but must have felt that he needed to scold me,,,, he spent fifteen minutes basically yelling at me and calling me a pathetic POS. I know it was for fifteen minutes because thats how late i eventually was for work. I dont hate cops,, but its cops like that that really give them a bad name. I was even able to control myself and not say anything bad to the officer after he was finished, i guess you could say all i did was turn the other cheak and say thanks for not giving me a ticket. But to this day i still never forget what a disgusting little b$tch that officer was,,, hmmmm,, wayne county patrol,,,, are those guys even allowed to pull people over.

Well, count your blessings. Ill take 15 minutes of verbal abuse anyday over a ticket that is likely to cost 3x the face value in insurance premiums for the next 3 years!
