Bassani Catback Install Gone Bad

Today was not what you would call a good day :(

After work myself and two of the techs were I work installed the bassani cat back I got from mark @ lightingforce. Everything installed fine and it sounded great.

I pulled out on the road nailed it first and when it hit second I heard the what sounded like it had a huge exhaust leak like one of the joints seperated. As soon as i heard it I flipped a U trun right there in the street when I heard the scaping sound and then I felt the right rear of the truck lift up. My right rear tire was know sitting on my nearly $700.00 cat back. We jacked the truck up and pulled the cat back out and I drove it the 200 hundred yards to the dealership were we reinstalled my stock cat back. The tips are crushed and two of the hangers are pretty bent up but the truck did not recieve any damage.

I am not sure how this happend, we tightened the **** out of the supplied clamps but it still came off. I am not sure what i am gonna do now, I probably going to have to buy some bassani tips and take the whole thing to a muffler shop and have them weld it in.

I attached a pic.

Bob <<< If i did not have bad luck I would not have any.

Sorry to hear about the mishap. That stinks! Is any of the pieces salvagable, can you just replace the tips?

Bob,

Wow! Sorry about your misfortune but thanks for posting it. It might just save a lot of us a good bit of misery. Mine (when I get them) will be welded for sure now! Thanks again, and good luck.

What a bummer! I have been considering putting the Bassani cat-backs on, and at least I, and the rest of us here, now know that we WILL weld these things on before we hit the street. Thanks much for the update.
