Neon Lights and Cops
Neon Lights and Cops
While driving through my subdivison last night in my blazer(soon to be traded in on the L) a cop pulled me over. Now i have my amps for my stereo mounted high in the back so you can see them out the windows and they are lighted. And i have a blue neon light under my dash that was on. I asked him what the problem was and he said, " All those lights in your car are not legal in this state since they cause a distraction to other drivers."
I was like WTF. Then he tried to pin me with a fine for being in view of a tv screen while driving. He thought my H.U. was a TV( its a Pioneer DEH-P9300). But in the end he let me off with a warning. Are there any laws against neon lights in your car in Texas?

Hummm. On my Alpine V-Power amp I have a blue neon power light on it and it is visable through the front windshiled. Then below it I have a green neon light on my Alpine V-12 amp. I have followed a few cops at night where they could have been seen, but he didn't bother me about it. Though I might cover em up just to keep them from comming up with one more excuse to pull me over.
There are illegal here in Fl also, ESPECIALLY red and blue!!!! I don't harass drivers for other colors or if they are under the car. But if they are in plain site and red or blue, that may get them a ticket from me.
The neon blue light is under my dash inside my car. Does that make a difference if it is inside. Th lights on my amps are blue two and are just as bright as the neon. But its all on the inside thats why i was wandering about it. I knoe there illegal here if there under your car but i wasnt sure about in your car.
It is NOT where they are mounted, it is where they are visible from.
If they can be seen from outside the vehicle, they are illegal in all 50 states. Now, enforcement varies greatly, and most don't bother, but it does give them an opportunity to stop you just like a tail light being out.
